Hello friends!

Wow, here we are in 2018, and I am glad to be back on the blog, although the rest and getting to celebrate with family was wonderful. I hope you all enjoyed the Holidays and celebrated big! It was so much fun on Christmas day when the pups dug into their stockings! They were so excited.  We kept it easy for New Years Eve, as we enjoyed watching the Ball drop and cooking a fancy meal of crab cakes, corn soueffle and other goodies. We toast the New Year with a delicious bottle of vino. Today’s post is very apropo to start the New year with and one of my favorite fabric and trends of the year, velvet.  I’m thrilled to start of the first collaboration of the New year with the company, Soft Surroundings. 

By now, you all know that I wear clothing that has to be comfortable and soft on my skin. Having EDS, there was a time where my skin was very sensitive I  had to actually cut the back of my socks, to be able to wear them. I presently, dont have that kind of sensitivity anymore, but choose not to wear anything tight or constricting. Why not feel good with what you are wearing?

Soft Surroundings is a company with the philosophy of  ‘putting yourself first, you can take better care of friends and family and hopefully live a happier, more fulfilling life.” This belief is shown throughout their clothing and bedding, as women should feel good as well as be able to take care of themselves with stylish yet comfortable clothing,  a good nights rest and wonderful bedding. I know myself, that my bedroom is my “sanctuary’.

Soft Surrounding’s first catalogue was first sent in July 1999, and they originate in St Louis, Missori. There is also a Char lotte location that i have to check out!

The items they sell are rated 1-3 for softness. They sell not only clothing, but bedding, jewelry, shoes, and beauty items. i love that!

Prior to Christmas, I chose this elegant Velvet Wrap Dress in the blue-grey color, “Stormy Seas”. I loved the tassel detail a, the draped dramatic sleeves, and the longer length. One of the Christmas gifts hubby gave me was tickets to Phantom of the Opera, and I thought, what a perfect dress for the night! I chose the jewelry to add sparkle and a vintage flare to the dress. When I saw this antique gold and sapphire blue necklace,The Mademoiselle Necklace,  I knew it would be a lovely addition to my jewelry collection and add some sparkle to this lovely dress, not to mention it fit in with my love for vintage or vintage inspired jewelry. I finished off the look with these festive and fun beaded gold Felicity drop ball earrings. Had we gone out for New years Eve, I would have worn this! I do see myself wearing this going out to dinner, certain events and love the soft feel. I am wearing an XS in this dress.

The look was completed with my tasseled black leather sandals from Adrian Allen, and my fog grey Love bag by Rebecca Minkoff. You can’t beat the luxury of velvet and how you feel wearing it. I have always loved it and enjoy wearing such a soft fabric.
