Turning Heads Linkup – Still Patriotic with Red, White and Blue

Hello friends!

I kept with the theme of this week, and hope you enjoyed celebrating Memorial Day. Yesterday I shared some past outfits in this post- and today i wore one of dresses with red, white and blue ( albeit an aqua blue).

Memorial Day and The Start of Summer

Memorial day and the start of the Summer Season. Who is ready?

We have had some summer like temps here last week when it was in the 90s, but a bit cooler as there was no humidity.

Still, the pool is open! I have recovered from the stomach ailment I had we had to spend 10 hours in the ER. After bloodwork and CT scan,  It was a Gastroperesis flare up and it has finally resolved. I actually can’t have salads every day ( too much roughage!)

We celebrated yesterday by having my sister and niece come up for a picnic. I bought my hubby a William Sonoma smoker that took months to get here, for Christmas. So, by gosh, he was going to use it! We want to make smoked salmon for an appetizer, and then had gourmet burgers ,( salmon burger for me) corn on the cob, potato salad ,orzo  and my homemade sangria.

This photoshoot was taken at the Mint Museum, a beautiful outdoor space right in front. It seems some museums are opening. You can read more about it here, if you ever visit Charlotte.

This dress is an “oldie but goodie” gifted by Karina Dresses in the Audrey style. A sundress that doesn’t wrinkle is just perfect for the warmer temps and I styled it with my Baublebar white resin flower earrings, my strappy sandals from Zara, and my favorite white rattan circle bag. Since some evenings can be chilly, I will wear my blue denim jacket or this white jacket bought secondhand at WHBM.

Are you excited for the start of summer? Do  you find yourself reaching for dresses?

I like this more unique patriotic outfit! And that white purse is so stinking cute. I don’t have a white purse but always find myself wanting to reach for one.

Love your take on a patriotic outfit Jess – you’ve translated the colors so beautifully rather than going for something very obvious with the flag!

This is adorably festive but not over the top or costume-y at all! You are perfectly patriotic! Love it!

Jess, I love that combo of red and aqua! I used to wear an outfit in those colors a long time ago and had forgotten how great it looks! Yum, I’d like to hear more about your sangria!! I’m glad you had a nice Memorial Day. We are back in the fog today, but thankfully, the holiday was nice and sunny!

That dress is so perfect for the holiday weekend and I really like the aqua blue in it… Oh my, I am glad you are feeling better, but that is a bummer you can’t have salads everyday (I love my salads!). I bet your homemade sangria was really good! The food you all made sounds delicious!

    Jess,

Wonderful look and a great subtle nod to RWB. A winkle free summery dress is a winner in my book.

Such a pretty outfit, Jess! I really like the way your dress is made. Very complimentary! I’m sorry you had to go to ER! It’s always crazy to me about how foods that are supposed to be good for you can cause a problem if you have some digestive health issues. Then those very foods can become primary culprits!

I wore a red, white, and blue tie dyed top with white shorts yesterday and felt too costumey! I prefer what you did here, much more chic. I have on Karina dress that I won 5 years ago in a giveaway. I hardly wear it now but I do love it. Thanks for the link up!
