Turning Heads Linkup – Textures – Red and Black Holiday Look

Hi friends!

Sorry about posting later, I had a blog mishap and published to “pages” instead of Posts. So, now we are up and rolling.I think it is the lack of sleep I have been having!

I know you just saw me in red- with my Red Sweater Dress for the Holidays post, but I wanted to style a more textured look with my lace Ann Taylor skirt, that I have had for 4 years, and some lace tights.

Can one really have enough red over the Holidays? This long cardigan duster was something I bought a few months ago on Mango, as I wanted to wear it over dresses, and with camis, jeans.. or an ensemble like today. If I was going to a party, I could take off the sweater and have the cami/lace skirt combination. I also added the black croc clutch for additional texture.

So, how was your weekend? I talked about mine yesterday on the blog but wanted to mention a show we saw.

Mr Rogers

Did you ever hear of 6 Degrees of Separation?  ( Not the movie with Will Smith) Well, it is a belief that we are separated in this world by 6 people. I was going to tell you about my 2 degrees of separation with Mr. Rodgers. Yes, hubby and I saw the movie over the weekend! I used to take Jazz guitar lessons and class at Duquesne from Joe Negri. Remember Handyman Negri, who is also a friend of Mr. Rogers? He would show Mr Rogers around the studio .. Joe Negri is well known in the Jazz Guitar world and is a musician that still plays to this day. He even came to my house for a lesson. Neat huh?

The movie did get me teary-eyed. I was transported back into my childhood with the song, ” Won’t You Be My Neighbor”, which I never forgot. I also remember as a kid thinking why doesn’t he just wear his tennis shoes, why does he have to sit down and change into them all the time? Or How many cardigans does he own? Really, though, the movie was very touching and solidified what I thought as a kid, Fred Rogers is an icon, and he is an altruistic man. As he recorded a show with King Friday, and Daniel, the talking lion, something just rose to the surface, as I thought about the innocent time and his desire to help children express their feelings. It really did touch me.

Outfit

I love these platform sandals, but I am waiting on these Marc Fisher pumps I purchased on Cyber Monday. Hope they fit!

I want to see that movie. I’ve heard so many good things about it. I think the timing couldn’t be better. So many people have forgotten how to be nice it seems.

I love all the textures and drama of this outfit.

That’s such a great story about Mr. Rogers and your music teacher! I really want to see that movie but am worried I’ll be bawling my eyes out in the theater, so I might just wait for it to come out on streaming. 🙂

This is such a gorgeous holiday look with the elegant black (with all of the different textures, which I love!) and that red coat that looks super soft! I saw Mr. Roger’s this weekend with my hubby, what a great movie… a little emotional at times, but a great message.

Love the texture in the tights and skirt! It is a very pretty look! Having grown up in France, I do know about Mr. Rogers but never really watched the show. I have heard good things about the movie though.

Well, the question of the day is…do you still play jazz guitar! And that is such a fun story. As for the outfit, you look stylishly chic in your fine black textures of lace, stripes etc. I love it with that red coat!
