20 Jul Turning Heads Linkup- The Tie Dye Dress I Wore for Family Beach Photos
I was on the hunt for a dress to wear for professional family beach photos.
My Outfit and Pics
I styled blue tones this week for the blog, as I was inspired by the ocean, clear blue skies and water. I love the “free” feeling in the water, and my inner child comes out when I am on the boogie board, riding the waves into the shore.
This dress had the colors and vibe I was looking for. The style and drape of the dress first caught my eye. I think the shape with the dolman sleeves, twisted waist and straight maxi style accounts for the elegant style. The slit up from the front gives it some sexiness as well as the deep v-neck.
Although I usually think of the Grateful Dead when I think of tie dye. It has come a long way! I have 2 tie dye dresses now. I loved the blue painted look as if carefully selecting the brush strokes.
My white rattan bag is the most worn of the summer and my espadrilles are a close second. I could certainly pair it with a pair of
slides for a more casual look as well.
I scored Poshmark for these earrings, and have bought several Kendra Scott pieces this way. They are a beautiful blue hue with gold posts and would also capture that ocean/beachside look.
The photoshoot was quite fun and a challenge, as we had our entire family there as well as two tiny tots. The photographer told my nephew, “Thumbs in the pockets” to help children know what to do with their hands. My brother then, subconciously did the same! We kept saying, Matt, thumbs in the pockets!”
My sister, sis in law and I have a bit longer hair which we sprayed diligently, using up a fair amount of the bottle. Once we were at the beach, in the evening( better lighting) my hair whipped around endlessly during the entire shoot. Should be interesting! I know you want a beachy look.
We should be able to choose the pictures in a few weeks. We had a good time and the setting was beautiful .

We were all going to be together for our beach weekend next week until my daughter realized school starts on 08.02 and they have to be back home almost before they get to the beach. It will be a real whirlwind trip for them. And her husband won’t be able to come along at all. Oh, well. Someday I will get those family photos!!
Love this look. The shape of your earrings replicates the pattern in the dress, especially at the waist, and the pattern in the bag and even on you shoes. Just perfection. I am sure despite the breezy conditions on the beach, your hair will be lovely. I remember for my daughter’s beachside wedding we all looked a bit beachy but we were happy and they were in love so it didn’t matter.

I wish we had gotten beach photos on our trip, but my family doesn’t like being photographed and we got my daughter’s dance schedule last minute.
