07 Dec Turning Heads Linkup- Ways to Style an Oversized Blazer
Oversized blazers are a big trend right now in fashion. Are they for you? Have you considered one? Let me tell you some of the ways I am styling this piece and may style it in the future.
The Oversized Blazer- Ways to Wear
If you are interested in a very popular item this Fall/Winter, the oversized blazer may be one to add to your wardrobe. You may be worried that it will overwhelm you, but I can give you some styling tips that will help that from becoming an issue.
Oversized blazers are wonderful to layer thicker items with. Wear a basic turtleneck and layer with the blazer.
Vests are also quite popular, and you could style either a structured menswear vest with a button down or sweater underneath or wear a sweater vest for a contrast in texture.
Try something you may not think of. Wear an oversized blazer with a more fitted midi or maxi dress. I love mixing patterns, so try a floral with a equal scalled patterned blazer.
When choosing an oversize blazer, choose one that is a solid color or a small print, like the one I am wearing here from H&M. The smaller scale or solid will not overwhelm your frame like a large bolder print would.
Think of proportions, wear a more structured pant or trouser, faux leather leggings, or skinny jeans (yes, I still wear them!) with the larger blazer. A pencil skirt, which is a straight from the hips down would also work well. For a more sporty or casual look, wear some fashionable sneakers.
My outfit began with this slightly oversized plaid brown blazer I bought recently at H&M. I always love the look of a double-breasted blazer as it hits longer on the hips and works well with leggings and skinny pants. I added this taupe turtleneck (basic) underneath that blended nicely with the browns and greys of the plaid print.
The slim pant in black creates a long leg line with the block black heel. Joseph Minkoff has such lovely designs and the cut outs at the back of the pant really caught my eye and added interest. A added a burgundy floral brooch as a more feminine touch!
Home for the Holidays
I’ve been in Pittsburgh, PA since the day before Thanksgiving. We drove the 8 hours and enjoyed seeing my family at my mom’s. The food was plentiful! I stayed at my mom’s house for another week, while my hubby helped at his parents in Philly. We went on the Pittsburgh incline, ( a tradition) ate at Bucca De Beppo and didn’t realize the portion size LOL, visited the downtown area and a local wintery which looked like a castle. I often post our escapades on Instagram Stories. So, follow me if you haven’t yet 🙂 We drive home Dec 9th and then will be headed to Harleysville for Christmas. I need some dry needling- but it is worth it.
How would you style an oversized blazer? I would love to hear from you. Let me know in the comments.
The blazer I am wearing is sold out, but I have linked other oversized blazers for you. **Affiliate links

Posted at 09:58h, 09 DecemberLovely classic blazer. It looks great with the slim leg pants – I love the cut out detail on the back of them. I have to be careful with oversized blazers because I’m quite broad, Sometimes I belt them for more structure. I hope you’re having a great week so far!

Posted at 11:39h, 07 DecemberOversized blazers aren’t something I wear because I always feel they don’t look quite right on me. But after seeing how fabulous you look in one, is making me changing my mind! I shall have to try them on again and see what I think.

Posted at 03:12h, 07 DecemberI love the over-sized look. I bought an over-sized blazer not long ago but it doesn’t suit my petite frame. It looks great on you though Jess because you are so tall with the longest legs! #envious xx
