Turning Heads #linkup- Wearing a Romper Over 40

IMG_8611

Hello Ladies

Here we are, nearly the end of August. Hard to believe, as it seems I was just at the beach!  Today I styled a rust printed romper from HM by wearing a crisp, white fitted blazer, a unique suede statement necklace from Zara, and my favorite gladiator sandals.  Just the name of the garment, “Romper” connotes a memory of childhood for me, with the TV program, ” Romper Room”. This show was from 1953 ( before my time) to 1994, and created basically a real kindergarten, with students saying the ‘Pledge of Allegiance” and then going into the classroom.

Lets just say, for the sake of the clothing, and today’s trends it is a “romper”. I loved this print, a rust and white interesting print I wanted to wear. Thinking of it as just an attached tank top to shorts, it served me well, when putting together this look. Why not?  I added a white blazer ( HM) to give it more of a stream lined look, and a look that creates a “built in cami” and shorts.  I  added a little bit of height with the wedges that are about 1 inch in height, giving it a more dressed look than a pair of sneakers. I also added a cognac Rebecca Minkoff bag and a rosewood watch by Jord for added complimentary color.

Outfit Details:  Romper: HM ( last year), White fitted blazer ( last year HM), Gladiator sandals: Payless, Rebecca Minkoff Handbag, Zenni Glasses c/o Statement Necklace (zara) Wooden watch c/o JOrdwatches

How do you feel about rompers?  Let me hear how you style yours 🙂

Jess if I had legs like yours I’d be in a romper too! You look so elegant (as usual) even in this playful mode. I love how you dressed this casual item up by adding the smart white jacket – a bit of a masterstroke there. Thanks for another great link up party! Have a good week x

Great romper- I love the colors and print!! And I love how you styled it with the white blazer! A second piece dresses up a romper so much! I recently rediscovered an old romper and wore it with a white vest when it was hot. I felt so much more dressed…

    I also LOVE your bag!

Thanks for the linkup & Happy Tuesday!

ps…I wore my hair to the side like your last night (thanks for the inspiration) and got complimented on it (it was straightened for a change). Do you pin it to the side or just brush it over and it stays?

Jodie, thanks so much! I have a bit of a collection of rompers. Glad youlike the necklace, I thought it was unique! I wear my hair to the side , the right, for years. I just brush it and it stays as it wants to lay that way. Ooo, I would have loved to see yours! xx

A blazer dresses up anything and this is no exception. I love how it really dresses up the romper…so sharp! Romper Room…I was traumatized by Romper Room when I was about 4 years old. I watched every episode religiously and one day it had been on while my mom was giving me a bath and as soon as she was done with me I ran to the living room, still naked and perched on my little stool just as Miss Nancy looked through her magic mirror. Wouldn’t you know, that day, she said “I see Debbie” and of course I immediately assumed she and the whole world could see me sitting there with no clothes on. I ran and hid behind the recliner and cried my eyes out…lol!!!

Thank you Deb! Oh my gosh. I can see how that would stick out in your memory! I have a vague memory of Romper Room, I was into Mr Rodgers and Capt Kangaroo I bit more I think.. Electric company! Ha! That would have freaked me out too if she said my name! Glad you like the outfit. xx
