Turning Heads Tuesday – Tweed Blazer, Leopard Cami and Suede Booties

Hi friends

I can’t believe it is October! Time is whooshing by and I am looking forward to all of the upcoming Holidays. But let’s not rush things. I wanted to style a blazer today with denim, and this tweed blazer was one I’ve had for many years in my closet.

Outfit

Although you don’t see me much in black, I do enjoy wearing it from time to time. I’ve had this Loft tweed blazer for many years and like the ruffles and fitted style. I’ve added several camis to my closet, as they are a great staple to wear with blazers and cardigans in the Fall, alone in the summer.

Tweed was made popular in Donegal, Ireland.  “Weaving as a hand-craft, using wooden handlooms, is a skill that goes back many centuries in Donegal.” It was also thought of like the hunter’s garment, in England. Why wear camo hunting when you can look dapper in your tweed blazer as British Royalty!

Wearing Black with Fair Skin

If you are like me and have fairer skin, there are some ways for you to wear black. I always wear a warm color near my face when wearing black. This can be in the form of a scarf or other accessories like a colorful pair of earrings. This draws the attention then to those items, making the black less harsh against your skin tone. Here I am wearing a mustard gold scarf which draws your eye to it, instead of the black jacket. The gold and leopard statement earrings add another touch of gold near my face.

I bought this lace cami on H&M, and the print alone would detract from the black, so if worn alone, you would not need to wear the scarf, but I love it anyway!

My new rich rust brown pointed Marc Fisher booties have a bit of a western vibe. I love the pointed toe, as it elongates the leg with the skinny jeans. I was excited to get these new boots for $50 on Poshmark!

You are right about cami’s – they are such a versatile item to pop under a little jacket. I really like the jacket and boots. Such a great way to break
up the colour black by wearing a little colourful scarf. I too like to wear black sometimes.

Adding a scarf is a great idea! I add a brighter lip color to help compensate because I can be a bit pale too. Love your cami and those fabulous new booties!

I have olive skin, which seems to go well with a lot of colors except sea form or light greens!! I do think the yellow scarf warms up the jacket a bit and it really works nicely with your skin tone. I just love that leopard cami, so nice with the leather jacket. And, those boots are the perfect fall color!

LOVE those boots. Admittedly, I love black (and I actualy love this jacket on you) – but I totally relate to certain colours just not suiting – every time I wear a pale colour someone asks me whether I’m “feeling okay”.

I can’t believe it’s Oct already either. That jacket it really pretty with the ruffles and I agree. I like to mix in some color when I’m wearing black to lighten it up a bit.

I am loving this leopard cami, Jess. And that blazer is insanely cute with the ruffle detail! I am very pale but can wear black with ease…maybe it’s my black hair that helps. I cannot wear that lovely shade of mustard though like you can! Such a great Fall outfit.

Thank you Nancy! I went and bought about 4-5 camis this year, as I would wear them often with blazers or kimonos. 🙂
