Valentine’s Day Look- Red and Burgundy

Hi friends

Valentine’s day is around the corner. I can honestly say we don’t go out as we prefer to spend it at home over a good meal and bottle of vino. But, I do like to dress in red for the occasion.

Did you watch the Superbowl? Great game huh? It wasn’t my hometown Steelers, but it was still a good game!

Outfit

Since Valentine’s Day is near, I thought I would put together some outfits that were taken from pieces of my closet. I am done shopping for Winter and am making use of different combinations from my closet. I wanted to put a romantic look together today for Cupid’s Day and decided to pair my burgundy lace skirt from Ann Taylor, with my red knit sweater I received at Christmas. I love berry tones and instead of monochromatic ( I do love a monochromatic red look), I chose complimentary colors.

Add texture with my lace tights and my black Dolce Vita booties that have gotten plenty of wear since I bought them this year at the Nordstrom sale.

Add a fun floral embroidered circle bag, from Zara and you have a romantic and playful Valentine’s Day look.

An Amazing Story

Valentine’s Day is about Love. And I do love fashion. I love red. I love my little family. And by now, you all know I love dogs!

Speaking of, I have to tell you this story I read on Facebook.

A 20 something speech pathologist built a speech board with colored buttons and words for speech learning. What is specail about that is that she and her hubby owned a Blue Healer. Blue Healers are very smart dogs, and she built this 25 button board in order to teach her dog to “talk”. They trained the dog at 2 months, and  repeated words with each colored button. The dog is now about 5 , and is able to chain words together to communicate its needs!! I was floored! She would press,”Outside” “Play”   or “Toys”, “Inside”… It was  just amazing! I thought if I had the speech board with Gibby and Truffles, Gibby would just repeatedly press” Food” “Food”, “Food”, and Truffles would press, ” Play” “Toys” over and again.

Do you dress for Valentine’s Day or are casual and stay home for the special day?

Red is an awesome color on you! And its a very sweet outfit. The tale of the button board is intriguing. Valentino is a dog that changes from day to day. I mean, he’s always sweet, but for example, some food he loved one day, he won’t eat the next. So I don’t know what he’d tell me. LOL!

I love the story about the dog (I have two and they’re definitely my babies, though they’re in trouble today because I didn’t put the poundcake slices I picked up at Starbucks back on the counter far enough and when I came back into the kitchen, the wrappers were on the floor and there wasn’t even a crumb left – and they’d already gotten their puppuccinos). I’d read a story about an African Grey parrot that was trained to communicate with words and could put his own words together to make sentences if he didn’t have one stored in his memory that would work. They’re just amazing and I think we just don’t tend to work with their little brains enough to find out. I know my girls have a pretty good vocabulary. One of them stares at us until we say the right word and then she smiles and tips her head, ears up. Now, on to the fashion part of this – what a beautiful outfit! I love the red and burgundy together and that gorgeous purse just ties them together. And those tights are fabulous, as are your earrings! I’m not sure what we’re doing for Valentine’s Day, but I suspect we’ll be doing it NOT on Valentine’s Day.

Fabulous Valentine’s Day outfit! I love the different shades of red and your patterned tights. I’d never heard of Blue Healers before so I googled them – they’re quite unusual-looking dogs…obviously very intelligent too!

What a pretty look! I love that skirt. I also love a good dog story and I am not surprised by this dog. I swear my dogs speak to me in sign language with just their eyes. I always know what they want my by the way the look at me or stand. Such sweet animals!

I like mixing tonal outfits, too. The red sweater was such a great find–I’ve been looking to replace a red cardigan of mine for a couple of years. That dog is so smart!

I love the style and want to wear it as a cardigan with a white button down or cami next. I know, I thought it was fascinating!

What a pretty combo for Valentine’s – so feminine and romantic! That sweater looks great on you and I love the tights too! That story about the speech board is amazing, I would love to know what Sophie would say, I think it would be “outside, outside, outside!” That dog is always asking to go outside on the patio to sit or out front in the yard. She loves being outside!

Thank you friend! I love red and thought it would be fun to try it with burgundy. The rich color combination works! I know.. I thought it was incredible a sthere are over 25 buttons that the pup utilizes! So cute about Sophie! Thats great! Truffles has her bed propped up on an ottoman and she can stare outside for hours!
