Valentine’s Day The Casual Way

Love Valentine’s Day, but prefer to spend it at home with the one/s you love? Don’t need to get into date night attire? Here is a casual look for V-day that is still fun!

My Outfit

Now you can’t exactly have that Italian night out in this top, as it may just get stuck in the sauce, but if you are making a meal at home, and aren’t fussing about what might get on your sleeves, just go for it!

These dramatic sleeves were quite trendy last year, and I have a few tops similar to this. They make a statement and are fun to wear. I have another top from a Canadian designer, Joseph Ribkoff I was gifted a few years ago with even more dramatic sleeves.

I wanted to share a look that was romantic, yet casual, and this blouse in a red floral, fit the bill for Valentine’s Day. Since the sleeves are wide, I like to style this blouse with a skinnier jean- my grey jeans from Old Navy. These soft, skinny jeans get a fair amount of wear and are a nice change from blue denim. The top has a smattering of grey in the pattern, and since it is a neutral, works quite well.

I have been wearing my Dolce Vita wedge sneakers often and it adds a bit of spunkiness to this look.

My red Prada bag added more Valentine;s Day love to this outfit as well.

I’m in the process of looking for a pair of prescription sunglasses. There is a Prada pair I am oohing and awwing for! I am wearing some sunnies in the last picture, in a grey tortoise. I am looking for a warm brown tortoise or similar shade, so presently, “just looking.” You may be wondering why I am wearing sunnies, when it is Winter and we just had enough rain to need an Ark!

Any favorite tunes out there when you think of Valentine’s Day? I love the song by Eric Clapton, “Wonderful Tonight.”  and of course, the jazz tune , “My Funny Valentine.”

Do you dress up or casually for Valentine’s Day?

Beautiful top Jess! I love big dramatic sleeves, even though they make eating a bit tricky! Gorgeous red bag too. Thanks for linking up!

What a beautiful blouse! It looks so nice with your jeans! 🙂 We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day here although I did wear pink – not intentionally though, haha! 🙂

Hope that you had a wonderful weekend 🙂

Thank you Mica! We dont always celebrate it . Usually we buy a great bottle of wine and have it with dinner at home. This year it was a spur of the moment decision 🙂

Jess, that is the perfect top for Valentine’s Day! And I will have to check out those jeans and especially those wedge sneakers. I’ve been eyeing some of those and do love Dolce Vita! We, too, are having a casual Valentine–with our son! Lol!

Have a wonderful week, my friend,

      Hi Darlene!
Sounds great! We dont go out for Vday, but will share a great bottle of vino! Glad you like the outfit. The wedge sneakers I have never went on sale, even at Christmas, but I wear them often. Enjoy your week as well!

Love, love the sleeves as long as I am not cooking. I have a cardigan with similar sleeves and I have to take it off when I wash dishes. It is so pretty though and love the print!

Thank you Kim! There is a bit f grey in the top and I thought it would be a bit softer than a black jean or wearing blue.

I just love that blouse. But I know what you mean about the sleeves. In fact, I shortened the sleeves of one like this just so it worked a little better in life.

I love that blouse! I have a dress with a similar print and sleeves, they are so pretty and perfectly paired with denim! I bet V-day is going to be nuts this year since it’s on a Friday. I don’t like crowded restaurants so we’ll see where we end up – may be at home which is just fine by me!
