After seeing all of the cute shirt dresses out there, and my fondness for the safari or looks with khakis, brows, other neutrals I wanted to put together my first look with my Khaki shirt dress, styling it several ways, this week and then next. The espadrilles I am wearing were a pair from Zara that truly caught my eye.. I have been tempted by all of the cute styles out there. The dress was a steal, and I bought it online last year. I am making a note, after the fact, that a comment was mentioned about it wrinkling for them, as she had the same dress. Yes! So, if you sit in a car, and want to go somewhere or take pics in it, I know this sounds silly, but I bring Downy “Wrinkle Releaser” and spray it after I get out, then smooth it out. I iron it before I wear it, but yes, it is tricky!
I do enjoy the blog and certainly meeting all of the lovely fashionistas I have met. In addition, the inspiration I receive from women styling various looks creatively, has expanded my thinking in terms of how to wear certain garments. I am going to show, how a simple mix of different accessories and styling can take the dress from one look to two different ones. If there are other ways you think of, please share in the comment section.
This look takes an on trend khaki dress, which I purchased last year at H&M on sale for $10! The button down shirt dress is very comfortable, and by switching out certain elements of the outfit, one can create different looks with this summer staple.
- Take shirtdress as your staple, and decide what accessories you want to emphasize with this look.
- I love khaki with color or metallics, in this case this beautiful deep burgundy shell necklace was gifted to me ( in a previous post) by Sylca Designs and adds color to the more neutral look.
- Instead of a heel, or flat sandal, I went with these fun and on trend espadrilles by Zara. The lace up style was perfect with the proportion and length of the dress, as well as the platform bottom adding cushion and comfort. If I return to something on-line multiple times, it means it has caught my eye!
- Another fun trend, as I am showing here, is this dark chocolate-brown straw woven clutch I purchased on Poshmark. I love a straw clutch or tote with this type of “Safari Look”. I have listed many straw clutches , bags and tote, on Friday’s past post HERE.
I will be sharing another look with this dress next week, just think of ways you may take a shirtdress and use accessories to style it differently, perhaps wearing it differently altogether.
