29 Apr What I’m Doing, Reading, Buying, and Watching This Month
Good Morning friends,
Today I am sharing what I have been up to this month in reading, doing, buying and watching.
This month has gone by in a flash!
Doing-
It has been a pretty busy month as we now have entered outdoor concert season. I love bringing our chairs, and we have this wagon to load everything into. Except the pups, they won’t take a ride! Our local shopping area has wonderful restaurants, and we can pick up food to sit, enjoy some wine or beer, and listen to live music, love it!
Taking a hike. We have many greenways here in NC, and also plenty of hiking trails. My hubby ran the trails, as I took the dogs through the woods and on a 2 mile hike. It really is a great escape, and one of my favorite serene places to be, in the woods.
Wine bar– Our favorite haunt, you heard me mention time and again on the blog here, is the Lake Norman Cottage, last night we listened to music and enjoyed a bottle of wine- just chit chatting with the musician and people there as well. Our area is being over taken by breweries as of the last 5 years, I say more wine bars! We love this place as even if the weather is bad, we can take the dogs inside.

RED RECOMMENDATION! If you love bolder, dry, fruit forward red wines, I can highly recommend the “Pessimist”. One of my favorites. ( Or is it) I don’t know, is was raining, and we just had to get something, I wasn’t expecting much…. always have to make that ‘pessimist” joke! LOL)
Here I wore my Clara Sunwoo pants and my Franne Golde top. Add a silk scarf and viola! USE MY CODE EDS10 FOR 10% OFF Clara Sunwoo. USE CODE ELEGANT FOR Franne Golde.

Volunteering at the Humane – It just brings me such joy to see the dogs and be there with them, helping to get adopted. Love these dogs! I worked an event on Saturday to help raise money for the shelter.

Castiel, the beautiful Husky pup.
Hair Dayz- Nothing like a refresh of getting your hair done. I had a fair bit of white coming in along my hair line and my mom’s hair is all white , not ready to go there yet!
Hearing a Talk– at Charlotte’s Night Theatre- my hubby and I saw, “The Psychology of Serial Killers”. It was a talk and Q and A discussion on some of the world’s most known serial killers and characteristics that all have in common. I wanted to go as I am a Discovery ID True Crime addict and this sounded very interesting, as it was. It was funny too, as there were mostly women in the audience!

Planting Flowers in our garden. Our roses are back, and our Azalea bushes are flowering, I bought some potted plants that are gardenias, and other fuller-sun plants for our back yard.

Buying plane tickets for this Fall, we have decided to go to Madrid, Spain. Now, to figure out our itinerary and accommodations. Often we love to stay at VRBO’s due to the room but will also be looking at hotels. I know I want to take the paella cooking class, which includes various Spanish wines, your own paella as dinner with meat or seafood, and dessert.
Reading
I am still finishing up Kristin Hannah’s book- The Women
Excellent read about the women medics in the Vietnam war. The main character and what she goes through with family and her own thoughts through this time in history. Recommend!
Harlen Coben- I am a fan of this author’s stories and Fool Me Once
is a book that leaves your curiosity peaked.

From Amazon
Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe—who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier. The provocative question at the heart of the mystery: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even when you desperately want to? To find the answer, Maya must finally come to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past before she can face the unbelievable truth about her husband—and herself. “
Buying-
I haven’t bought much this month, as I have been streamlining the closet and giving clothes to charity that are either not my style anymore, or I find myself not wearing. The goal of the closet is to have pieces that you love to wear, that are a great fit and bring you joy when you take them out. I have purchased a couple of items on sale, and Ebay.
I have this green blazer, in linen, but wanted the pants for a suit. I looked on Ebay and found these at a fraction of the price. I did also buy them on sale on J Crew Factory in the tall in case the Ebay ones were too short. You can look at sellers on Ebay, as this one has a 30 day return policy, so if one is better than the other, I will return one. I also bought this vest, as I wanted one with the adjustment on the back.
Mother’s Day gifts– I bought these Kendra Scott earrings and this handbag for my mom, so that she can wear it with this dress I recommended to her when we celebrate her 80th birthday at the Isle of Palms this June.

Watching-
Evening is my wind down time and I enjoy some foreign shows as well as BBC or Britbox. One of my very favorites on Britbox that I used to watch, and now can watch new seasons of is VERA. She’s a no-nonsense, semi-frumpy but strong Inspector with a keen eye. She loves to call people “pet” or “love”, so there is an endearing quality and charm about her. The actress Brenda Blethyn has won many awards.

A German Amazon original, titled, Sebastian Fitzek’s THERAPY, is a psychological thriller based on his bestselling book. I truly enjoyed it!

I’d love to hear some of the things you are doing, watching, reading and buying. Let me know in the comments!
See you tomorrow for Turning Heads Tuesday!
Have a great day!

Posted at 17:42h, 29 AprilI love reading about bloggers who live in communities where you can walk to interesting venues. I, unfortunately, do not. Love your flowers…it’s getting close to planting season here, but I can’t decide what I want to plant this year. Last year’s crop was a bust.
Have a wonderful week, Jess!
