White Linen Shirt Dress with Hi -Low Hem

Hello friends

Its all about white – fresh, crisp and clean for summer.

Outfit

I will preface this by saying, my hair fell by the time we got to pictures. I did use hot rollers, but then …FLOP.

I have been diligently searching for a white dress to keep me cool in this hot of hot summers.  My mom and I were doing some on-line surfing, looking for this elusive perfect white dress.

Ok, well no dress is perfect, but this is perfect for these hot 100 degree days, when the sweat begins to trickle down your neck and chest upon stepping out onto the back deck.

Linen. The key is linen and cotton, two fabrics that are essential for living in the South, in the summer months.

My mom spotting this linen shirt dress on Chicos website. I loved the more a-line shape of the button down shirt dress, and the Hi-Lo Hem, that made it different. Not your average white shirt dress.

I knew it would be cool and I could accessorize it as I pleased, being a white dress.

I kept it simple and classic with larger gold hoop earrings, my round rattan bag, and my delicate gold chain. Simple is more of my preference in the heat.

These pictures were taken again at Robbins Park. There are so many lovely areas and nearly no one around.

Italian Meal Idea

Well, putting our heads together on the homefront, Mom, my hubby and I , thought of s potential plan regarding what we could do since we won’t be going to Italy this year.  Coronavirus has curtailed many plans I am sure, but we thought of how we could bring Italy to our home.

I suggested, since hubby has been dilagently been practicing his Duo Lingo Italian for more than two years now, that he put his skills to practice! I mentioned we have several bottles of Italian red wine my sister introduced by my sister. We could make Caccio E Peppe, a dish consisting of cheese and peppered pasta. It sounds simple but it is oh so good! Prepare the meal, have the table set on our deck for 2, ( mom and I) and we could order from Italian menus I made up. We would have to order that dish, ask for wine, water and also later where the bathrooms are. We could practice the few phrases I would need to learn, and hubby could practice the waiter skills, ultimately serving himself as well. Whatcha think?

See what you do when you are at home far to much? :[)))

What a fabulous dress, Jess! You know I love a little white dress in summer. And the tan accessories are perfection. Although I wouldn’t dare to eat any of that amazing Italian food while wearing a little white dress! I would completely ruin it with sauce! Thanks for linking up!

Cooking together can be so much fun and experimenting with a new dish can be quite an adventure. Of course you need to wear an older shirt and apron when you cook Italian getting tomatoes splattered on that beautiful white shirt dress would be a disaster.

What a pretty dress! I wouldn’t think to look for such a “basic” at Chico’s. Your outdoor dining sounds fun, so smart of your husband to try to pick up Italian.

      Hi Kim!
He is very vigelent about leanring Italian, as we had hoped to go to Italy in the fall. Since that is a no go, I was thinking of ways he and I could practice it! So glad you liked the dress, mom pointed it out to me when she was looking

I think you should plan your Italian meal around your outfits. For instance, you wouldn’t want to be wearing white with tomato sauce…so a nice alfredo sauce would be better this day…LOL

haha, no I wouldnt eat Italian in this! That is only asking for sauce to be on it. I would have to change to something more sauce friendly. I couldnt resist the white linen for warm summer days here.

Oh yes! hubby will be making that soon, its so good! Thank you! I loved that it was my style and linen, as we have been in a heat wave here and it is very hot.
He has learned quite a bit, but most is not having conversations, I think for true language knowlege you need immersion. But he does quite well!
