Woven Bags and Shoes for Spring

The question of the Universe.

It’s not what you think..

“Why are we here?”

” What is our purpose?”

” Is there a Higher Power?”

No, in the fashion world, it is, ” Can a lady have too many shoes and bags?”

and I say “no!” 🙂

All About the Rattan

In the Spring and Summer, I LOVE a great woven shoe or sandal along with a straw or rattan bag. These accessories add texture to a more classic or neutral look, adding more visual interest to a minimal style that the hotter weather may invoke. Many of the bags are made of rattan and straw and come with a cloth interior. I have several and the circle bags will hold my wallet, lipstick, mirror, and cell phone.

I bought a new rattan bag I look forward to sharing on the blog, and purchased a round circle straw bag last year as I had seen them in the fashion world and couldn’t stop looking! ” These bags are hand woven and then smoked over a coconut husk to attain their natural golden color” ,  so just as a note, if you do find a bag from Amazon, like I did last year, you may have to air it out for a week! 🙂

Round rattan bag-

Here I added a leopard scarf to the bag, for additional print and color interest. I LOVE this one!

Brown woven clutch- via Poshmark ( sim style here and here )

Straw bag, Mango ( last year), similar here, Espadrilles- Franco Sarto.

And, just out of curiosity, here are some interesting facts about rattan because, who doesn’t want to learn something new every day! *Wiki- Source

  1. Ratan was used for corporal punishment in Wales and England. It is still used in Malaysia, where 6 strokes is considered punishment.
  2. You may know that rattan is used for making baskets, bags, but it can also be used in making chairs if divided into sections, making it a stronger and as wicker.
  3. My favorite, ‘the women of the wemale ethnic group of Indonesia wore rattan girdles around their waist*( wiki) Ah, no thank you! You thought Spanx were bad!

I’ve put together curated links of some fabulous woven shoes and bags for the summer months. Slides are popular again this year, making them the summer shoe of choice. Sandals, espadrilles are close behind, so I have included those too!

Here are a few looks too, with the straw woven bag from last year, and how texture during the warmer months, enhances the look.

Are you interested in the ratan bags or shoes showing this Season? Can a lady really have too many bags or shoes?

I love your yellow dress! So beautiful Jess and these rattan bags are absolutely the cutest! I haven’t jumped on the rattan bag trend but I want to. I am just not sure how much use I would get out of it. I love the box bag that you featured in your widget.

Rattan is lovely. In New Zealand where I live, it’s more likely to be a hand-woven flax bag. Either is really nice for spring and summer.

I have a little round straw bag I carried last summer. I loved it. I’m wanting a clutch type hand back now.

I really need to get myself one of those bags, they look so beautiful! I always saw woven bags as beach bags but they’re such a huge trend right now for casual wear that I had to change my mind.

HI Neti! Thank you. Yes, I am excited to take out my sandals. Aw, that must have been a smaller bag. I can fit those in mine, but there are varying styles. Hope you enjoy the weekend as well. We have had one sunny day this week, I hope to see it again soon! xx
