13 Jul Basics- Black Cotton Midi Dress with Floral Scarf
Good morning,
I hope you all had a great weekend.
I am wearing a basic black dress that can be dressed up or down and is a perfect staple for summer.
I wore the same type of dress on the blog here in camo. They are simple basics and both neutrals that can go with anything. I dressed up this black cotton midi dress from Target, with a new floral scarf from Mango, with lilac, olive, and yellow tones. The floral long earrings are from Baublebar.
I am showing this outfit with two different types of shoes- the white strappy 3 inch Zara sandals, as well as the new Vince Camuto quilted black slides. I first bought a pair of these on H&M, but found that they were too big. My search just took me to Nordstrom and I found these babies!
There are many ways to style this basic black dress.
They wearing it with a jean jacket- lighter one for the season.
It can be worn with a blazer in cooler months
or a long cardigan or Kimono giving you a long line of focus in one color. ( black).
Tie a button down shirt at the waist and wear it like a top and skirt.
Wear with sporty or slip on sneakers for a casual look.
I have several of these basic long dresses to either wear dressier or casually.
Weekend Happenings
Now for the funny story! We went to a local Brewery with my mom to have lunch and just to enjoy a different atmosphere. When we arrived there was one table with people, a group in their 30s. We had been talking at home about needing a new refrigerator as ours is icing up and we need more space too.
It made me think how we sit and talk about different things. The 30 somethings were playing cards and talking, my hubby and mom had a battle of the “who could find the best refrigerator” on their phones, as we sat at this new picnic table. I laughed, and told my mom, see the difference- they are playing games and drinking beer, we are sipping and talking about buying refrigerators! I used to chuckle to myself when I would hear my dad ( when he was in his 40s) and I was 20 talk on the phone to his sister. Pains, ailments and digestive issues were the topic of choice. So, here we are talking about fridges. 🙂
Nonetheless, we had a very nice day just being out in a different atmosphere certainly helps your mood and state of mind.
My new Vince Camuto quilted black slides. All leather and cushiony.

Posted at 11:13h, 16 JulyJess, I love everything about this post and outfit! I have worn the same black cotton midi dress with lace trim at least once a week this entire summer. I finally styled it and photographed it to share on the blog. I love this dress on you. Your quilted slides are so gorgeous. And that scarf is stunning! It is funny how the topics of conversations shift as we get older! Great story. Thanks for sharing and linking up with me.
