Turning Heads Linkup – At Home Casual – Camo Tee Dress with Ruffled Jacket

What is it about camo that makes us love it?

My Outfit and a Story

I have some camo jeans from LOFT in this post –Camo, Floral and a Moto Jacket.

I recently wore this NYDJ camo skirt with floral here on this post.- Mixing Spring Patterns

and now, I have this ultra-comfy Target dress I am wearing today. And it’s $20!!

Let me give you a bit of background. You aren’t going to believe this, and even I laugh at it!

When I was working on my Master’s Degree, in my late 20’s,  I had broken up with my fiance that I met at Music School. Now, that isn’t the funny part.
I met another guy on campus, and he was very much into hunting. So, what did I do? I went and took a class to get my “hunter’s license”!

Why did I do that? Well, for the guy.

When I look at it now, I never had any intention of hurting an animal! I LOVE animals and would never do it. We walked through the woods,

he would talk to me about hunting squirrels.  I don’t want to hurt squirrels.

So this story basically taught me a lesson, don’t do something for a guy. Or anyone but yourself.  It made me think of it, as I am wearing

camo! Would you believe a birthday gift of mine that he bought me was a 410 rifle? I still laugh about that.

Anyhow, I don’t and never will hunt. As I said, I can’t watch it on tv. What was I thinkin’?

Now.. back to the camo dress.

This is Target. It comes in plenty of other colors but I was drawn to the camo. It is as comfy as pjs, so why not? I thought it would be a cute

casual piece and easy to wear around the house or for the grocery errands. I thought some of you readers may like a mix of dressy looks and more casual ones to wear around the house.

I am wearing a size XS and it is roomy and comfortable.

I wanted to add a jacket. as the dress is sleeveless, and wore my White House Black Market white ruffled denim jacket. So , its that dichotomy of feminine masculine that I love too!

I thought I would share a pic of my pups as they are the best and just such a joy and comfort! They love the extra walks!

Outfit

Camo dress– Target

White ruffled jacket- White House Black Market ( older) similar jacket

Sandals c/o Jambu ( last yrs style) similar comfort sandals

white rattan bag– zara

Earrings- Charming Charlies ( similar – many colors but not olive)

Prada Sunnies

Stay safe and take care,

Jess xx

I love camo and this look is so cute! I love that it looks so chic the way you styled it. I gotta get a cute wicker purse like this- matches everything:) And your story…funny how different it was back then, girls always trying to change for the guys- luckily it’s not like that anymore (for the most part!)

Thank you Lucy! I have a couple rattan bags, a neutral one and a white one. I wear them a lot in the summer. So true! Yes, I laugh at that story now!

Ha! Great story! The white, feminine jacket absolutely makes the outfit! Like you, I have been trying to create more outfits that are comfy enough around the house, and look good enough to wear out and about. I love when you include photos of your pups in your posts!

What a cute outfit! Love your story too – I think we can all relate in some way. I remember doing something similar (not hunting though) and it was only after that I realized that we had absolutely no shared interests or anything in common. Moral of the story: don’t force anything. Lesson learned lol!

What a great way to style this dress Jess. I have been looking for more of a pink camo top, jacket or dress, but maybe I just need to add a white jacket to it instead.
    Great story, BTW.

Fabulous dress! It looks great with the white jacket and wedge sandals. A rifle is a very unusual birthday present…that could get you into a lot of trouble in the UK!

I love to see your sweet pups! They do bring us joy, don’t they? I love how you styled “our” dress!! I thought about adding my natural denim jacket and love how yours looks with the crochet sandals and woven bag!! SO cute! Take care, Jess. And yes, no hunting! We’ve all certainly matured in doing things for ourselves, haven’t we? Got a chuckle out of your story!

I think the dress is on sale for 14 dollars right now. It looks so cute on you that I am tempted but I have learned that I look better in fitted dresses. I love how you paired it with the white jacket, I have done that with a camo tee and it is a great combination! Funny story about camo, hunting and receiving rifle as a gift. I am trying to think if I have done that before. DIdn’t date much before getting married but do remember trying to be a certain way for the guy I dated before my hubby.

Hey Jess! First, the outfit…adorable! I have always loved camo for as long as I can remember. And the pups are looking so cute in your photos today! I mean, they always look cute when you show them to us! Second, I did have a good giggle about you getting a hunting license for a guy. I changed my religion for a guy once! Haha. Then I was excommunicated from the Catholic church when we got divorced and he filed for an annulment. I guess I’ll never do that again! I do have to say that in the current strange environment, I am glad that my husband is a hunter because we may need that skill in the near future! Eek. I hope you are doing well, my friend.

Such a cute camo dress! I’ve dressed up to walk the dogs lately too, haha! it’s the only time, other than our weekly grocery shop, that I can get out of the house, so I’ve taken advantage, haha!

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂

    Jess,
I love the ruffled jacket with your camo dress!
Too funny that you wanted to get a hunting license for a guy but we do many things to please our men!
I made my husband quit hunting with his brother because I don’t like guns.

    Enjoy your puppies!

This is the key at the moment isn’t it Jess? Finding appropriate clothing that we can wear at home that is comfortable, crease free and stylish. The dress is one of those good finds. Good to see you safe and well xx
