Bruno Magli Espadrilles – Italian Craftsmanship and Casual Elegance

Bruno Magli– There’s nothing like Italian Craftsmanship, especially as a shoe and bag lover.

Bruno Magli Espadrilles

Una scarpa bellissima!  Well, my hubby is in his 4th year or so, learning Italian via Duo Lingo. I look to the domande importante. ( the important questions) You know, ” Escussa? Quanto costa la borsa? Quanto costa le scarpe?   This is something you will want to know when visiting Italy. ( wink)

“Excuse me, how much is the bag? How much are the shoes?

Well, I’m introducing you to Bruno Magli, an Italian brand synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. The business  began as he and his siblings in 1936 began crafting shoes in the basement of their home. In 1951 the first retail store was open in Bologna, Italy. Globally, in 1969, the brand, Bruno Magli, becomes known for its craftsmanship and opens other stores in major Italian cities. Later in 1980, it opened more retail stores around the world, in Australia, the United States and Europe.

In 2018, the brand has opened and expanded their stores in New York City as well.

What makes a good espadrille?

For me, I am looking at the quality of the materials used, the weightiness, and the metal accents as well.

Here I am wearing the Mares Suede Platform Espadrille Wedge in Navy . There is a ecru color as well as an orange. And if you want a linen or black style, the Marella comes in a linen color and black.

I always love a beautiful pair of espadrilles as part of my Spring/Summer wardrobe. I have linen pieces and I love the look paired with a gorgeous shoe, such as this.

However, today, I decided to wear a bit of a trend that is popular right now- double denim. These navy suede espadrilles paired nicely with my straight high rise jeans,( sim) and my Anthropologie denim jacket worn as a top. The jacket is more fitted, and the jeans a bit more of a casual vibe with the unfinished hem. I had to add some print, and my leopard scarf did not dissapoimt adding to a more sophisticated flair. Of course, I had to carry my “most often worn” Bruno Magli bag as well. ( It is the perfect size!) I look forward to styling them with sundresses as well.

The espadrille has a jute wedge that is 2.75 inches with an almost 4 inch heel. The key here is the cushion and comfort. I especially loved the ankle strap and buckle, which was much easier to walk in and stay fastened than the ribbon tied espadrilles. The buckle was solid, not flimsy like some pairs I encountered. It’s all about quality.

From the website: The new platform espadrille wedge from Magli is made in Italy in the softest quality of suede and it is set on a natural jute rope wedge with a well refined leather buffed natural bottom and a delicate personalization for the hardware Magli handwritten logo .”

I’ll be styling them either on stories or reels if you want to check out them there.  It is the perfect shoe for the warmer seasons and will become a classic in your shoe wardrobe!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. We went to my brother’s house later for brunch and celebrated my husband’s birthday as well. We might even have a new tradition of using the hot tub! It was just nice to get together with family in enjoying this important day. I joke and say I think my mom hid my Easter basket until I turned 20!

What espadrille would you choose? Have you visited Bruno Magli for their Spring/Summer 2023 line?

I love wedge espadrilles for summer, they’re the only type of shoe I can wear that give me a bit of extra height without foot pain. These look such good quality and they look great with the all denim outfit!

They are perfect for your outfit! I love espadrilles and love that these have a strap. My heels fall out of the pump-style espadrilles.

I’m such a fan of espadrilles, but many have such a hard insole. Are these softer and comfy?

I am too, but I have a pair with the laces and they don’t quite fit right. These espadrilles by BM are wonderful, yes, they are comfortable and easy to walk in

I love espadrilles, and have a few pairs-they are a great summer shoe! The Bruno Magli pair you are wearing look so chic and beautifully made. Also, great double denim look to complement the shoes. Sounds like you had a lovely holiday with family, and possibly stared a fun new Easter/birthday tradition. Happy Birthday to you husband! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week!

What a gorgeous pair of espadrilles! I don’t have a pair right now and haven’t had great luck. The last pair would get spots (it was orange) but I like the idea of a navy pair. They complete your outfit perfectly!

We are both in double denim! I like espadrilles a lot, they are easy to walk and the ultimate summer shoe, to me. I guess it’s going better with you as you wear jeans!
