26 Nov Camo, Floral and a Moto Jacket – Mixing Patterns
I remember the first time I was called an “influencer”… one who influences.. Kind of funny, as, you show me something enough times, and I may just be the one who is influenced! Camo has been a trend for a while now, for Fall, and I have seen it throughout retail and blog land. I was looking for a pair of camo jeans, when I saw, Shelly, sporting these camo pants.
Weekend
Morning friends I do nearly all of my shopping on-line as I don’t like the feeling of people pushing and shoving to get those “must have” gifts. It’s not what the season is about, and I have only gone out on Black Friday once. So, I just shop in the comfort of my own home. I know there are sales throughout today, Cyber Monday.. you can check out Friday’s post HERE.
I accomplished a fair amount over the weekend. Our tradition growing up was to put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. I also have some old-fashioned Santas that I love to put out on the mantel. Our Christmas tree is filled with meaningful ornaments from our childhood, as well as from trips and places we have been, as a fond memory to look back on.
My sister came over and we started to wrap gifts. I am not an expert wrapper, but I do what I can! We enjoyed some vino and pizza from Mamas… mmm I was craving some deep dish- ooey, gooey, tons-of-cheese, pizza. I love giving gifts and seeing people’s excitement. Even Pedro, my brother’s dog, loves to tear into gifts!
I started “researching” some Holiday Cocktail recipes, as my sis in law and I love to make special drinks for Christmas Day for the family to enjoy. Last year we made a Cranberry cocktail, and there are some great recipes here on Southern Kitchen. to check out.
My Outfit
After blogging for over 4 years, I have learned quite a bit about fashion. I am also enjoying taking more fashion risks. Let’s face it, there are no “fashion police”, so why not experiment and have fun with your closet.
I didn’t know much about pattern mixing until I began blogging. The concept interested me, and today I am sharing pattern mixing with camo/floral. I just recently bought these camo pants from LOFT. Camo, just like leopard print, is a neutral pattern. I looked through my closet and chose this floral, silk blouse from Haute Hippie. ( sim) The pinks, reds, greens, all combined nicely with the olive camo print.
I have loved the combination of pink with olive as well, and added my 3rd piece, this Mango, pink faux leather moto jacket..
My Rebecca MInkoff bag in fog is a soft, light grey that goes well with the pink and taupe.
The softness of the pallete continued with the embroidered, Marc Fisher taupe suede booties. You know how I love romantic looks!
Do you experiment with your closet? Try pattern mixing? Are you on the Camo bandwagon?
Here are some affiliate shopping links similiar to items I am wearing.
See you tomorrow for Turning Heads Tuesday linkup.

Posted at 09:56h, 06 DecemberAnother great outfit today! I love the floral print blouse with the camo, and the booties are fabulous!
We have so many similar traditions in our family with the Christmas tree and decorating. I love a beautiful themed tree, but I can’t bear not to put up my collection of ornaments that mean so much from over the past 30 years and we only have room for 1 tree!
And by the way…you’ve made me want pizza in a really big way! I’m in New York right now and I think I’ll have to go and hunt down some deep dish pizza! Have a great day!

Posted at 10:18h, 06 DecemberThank you Suzanne, I loved how the look turned out. I really wanted some camo! I was just talking to my hubby the other day about how I was recollecting how I used to do snow stencils on our windows at Christmas time. I love hearing that about the ornaments too, my hubby has ones from his childhood we have. You made me smile- yes, go get that yummy pizza, I love cheese and this one we get is loaded! Same to you Suzanne! xx

Posted at 18:53h, 26 NovemberI love this outfit Jess! I only recently bought some camo print jeans after wanting some for ages. I’m sure I’ll be wearing them lots of different ways because like you say, they are a neutral. The dark green hues look great with soft pink and the pretty floral print.

Posted at 10:01h, 26 NovemberAw, thank you friend! I was excited to style them. I just love that camo can be worn with any color, or in this case print. I wanted to style it with pink and my jacket was the way to go, glad you like it! I loved that it is a darker rose pink and not really light, as I am seeing more of now. Hope you had a wonderful day as well with your family. Yes, the are some great cocktails and my sis in law and I make them each year now, they are fun and so yummy! xx
