13 Jun Chambray Embroidered Shorts with Dressy Black Blouse
Hello Everyone, and Happy Monday.
I promise you I am not complaining. I am just stating a fact when I say it was 96 degrees when we took these pictures. I am a woman who spends about 10-15 minutes on makeup, having it down to a science and basically figure it is going to melt away on my face by the time we get to take the photos anyway. I love YSL’s Eclat Primer, as it does an excellent job of making my foundation ( Dior Nude Air) glide on smoothly and evenly, but as temps get hotter, I use this and a dab of foundation, but find that a lipstick is what holds up for these warmer months. I am going to be featuring shorts this week on the blog, and if you are over 40 and want to wear shorts, just do it! There are plenty of lengths and styles to choose from.
Today we went to Childress Vineyards, just my hubby and I , as they do not permit furry friends on the premises, and frankly it was too hot for them. The grounds are beautiful and there was quite a crowd. A duo played “oldies” with guitar and upright bass, in an indoor pavilion, and we enjoyed the peach/strawberry Sangria an ice cold refreshing drink. So good in the summer, I need to make my own!
I thought it would be a great time to take out some of the new shorts I bought during Loft’s Memorial Day Sales. This week on the blog, I am showing how to dress up shorts and tips on wearing shorts over 40. I still find dresses a bit more comfortable, but wanted to try out some pretty shorts with great textures and prints this year. This pair is a light, thin chambray with cut out embroidery pattern at the bottom. These have a 4 inch inseam, which I like wearing, but they had plenty of shorts with a 6″, as well as walking shorts if one prefers a longer length. ( I will be sharing different lengths on the blog)
The top, Banana Republic, caught my eye as I liked the frill at the neckline and the spotted pattern. The material is light, so wearing black in the sun doesn’t have to be a no-no. I made the look a step up from casual with these Sofft black leather wedges and my quilted Rebecca Minkoff handbag. A pair of my favorite black metal scroll earrings were chosen with this look. I now need to research some updos for this weather as my long hair gets too hot in the summer, not to mention pictures with sweaty hair just aren’t attractive. I like the look of a chignon, or even a ponytail, so you may be seeing those soon! Look for tips on wearing shorts over 40 on the blog next!
Do you wear shorts, if so,how do you typically style them? Or are you more of a dress kind of woman?
Outfit details: Top ( older Banana Republic), Shorts Loft, Sandals: Sofft, Earrings: Etsy, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff.

Posted at 00:11h, 15 JuneI love shorts, sadly it is winter in Australia and cannot wear them for another 6 months. You, however, rock them, you look sexy and sophisticated and stylish all in one

Posted at 16:27h, 13 JuneThose shorts are so pretty and I like the top, also. I usually wear knee length shorts or capris as I think they look better on me. Glad you had a fun outing.

I love your shorts here (of course, I am a trim/embellishment girl–so it’s a no-brainer!).

Posted at 06:35h, 13 JuneThat is a very feminine top, and of course I like it a lot because it is black. The shorts are looking good on you, I only wear them around the house when nobody is comming over! And yes, Sangria is delicious in the summer!
