22 Aug Dark Denim Days

Hello Ladies!

Again, Happy Monday, is it Monday already? This was another warm day so we decided to take my nephew, Tyler out for his 19th Birthday. We went out by the Lake to enjoy the view amongst other things This week, I am going to show various ways of styling denim. You all know I am more of a dress and skirt girl, but on occasion, i get the urge to wear denim.

Here we are, at one of our favorite hot spots, Port City Club. It was a great day. I was feeling good and we took my nephew out for his Birthday. They recently got umbrellas for the table, so my hubby was happy as he, in most recent years isn’t a fan of sitting in the sun. Me, on the other hand, I like to sit in the sun, as long as I put sunscreen on, and I do so before we go out. Being red headed and with fair skin, I have learned this lesson. I, pretty much do not tan, but burn. When I hit 40 or even earlier, I thought I would certainly prefer less wrinkles to tanned skin. One of my mom’s friends can lay out for 6-8 hours on a beach! Not me. To be truthful, I get bored laying there. I read on the beach, and it is calming, but the bold sun bearing down with its heat and rays, making me feel baked on both sides, tends to motivate me to grab the boogie board and ride the waves in the ocean. I have always loved the water. So, it seems when we  do go out and sit at a restaurant, I am aware of the sun’s hot rays and damage it can cause to the skin, I am much smarter than I was when I was younger. ( Will go into those tales of  Baby Oil or Butter another day).

Nevertheless, we had a great time, chatting with my nephew Tyler, who began telling us tales of living in Charelston, SC, happy times with his girlfriend, and plans for an apartment. All of life’s issues when one is 19. He is interning with my hubby in IT, and my husband is showing him the ropes.They both love to talk tech, and I just sit back and take it in. Tech Talk, or Geek Speak, whatever you want to call it. I told him things an Aunt is supposed to say. Make sure you go for work that you love. Something you are passionate about. This is my belief. One has to wake up every day and WANT to go to their job. I remember someone telling me once that if you can make your hobby your job, that is the way to go. It doesn;t always happen, but it is possible.

Anyway, speaking of things we love.. my fashion for today, is casual, as it is hot outside, and shorts were in order. I have a dark pair of Ann Taylor denim shorts, a pink floral top, and some white strappy espradrilles. I decided to add green to the mix, as I may normally pair this with some pink floral jewelry. THis time, I wore some green beads, and beaded earrings to bring out the green in the leaves on the top.

How many of you ladies wear shorts? Do you tend to wear longer, more walking short type shorts, or do you wear about a 4′ inseam like these? If the weather were cooler, I would have paired this possibly with a pink or kelly green shrug or cardi, or go for a denim on denim look, but possibly a light denim jacket.
