Happy Labor Day!
What could be more Americana that jeans and a white tee? Or denim shorts and a white cotton tank? Well, this is my casual look today, with a twist and some additional color via statement necklace.
My Casual Look
Yes, it’s September, but that doesn’t mean we don’t still have hot temps, as we are still 90 degrees in NC. Even my mom, in Pittsburgh is experiencing high 88 degree temperatures.
It was one of those humid, hot and sticky days when we took photos. I decided casual summer look was in order, and took out my corset styled white tank from Express and was to pair it with my new trusty denim shorts. I have enjoyed wearing these shorts this summer as, with denim, they go with everything.
I think about how we are in September and how retailers are showing and have been showing Fall collections. Always tricky as a blogger when the temps are still high in NC but you really want to wear cardis and boots!
You first saw my corset style top in olive, in this post-Olive Corset Top and Straw Bag
and for me, with white tops, I need to find an interesting detail- whether it be eyelet texture, ruffles or in this case, a lace up corset. A trend from a few years back, it was the detail that made me eye this top.
Reiterating the lace up detail, I chose my eyelet lace tied espadrilles.
Accessories Can Help Take the Look up a Notch
I had the outfit set, then needed to add some color! Although I have not worn heavier necklaces during the summer, I knew my Zara silver floral necklace, with colors of yellow, blue, green would add some sparkle and color to this look. My earrings are continuing in bright white, but I wanted the long style to draw the eye downward.
I then, added my Treesje dark blue clutch with its crinkled leather style and ruffles to add more visual interest and texture to the look. See how adding these details took a white tank and jean shorts to a new level?
Another Layer
Want to wear this to the movies, but know they will be cranking the air conditioner? Add another touch of denim with a cute jean jacket or what has been trending, a kimono. I always love to take a layer with me if we go out as usually restaurants or movie theatres are usually chilly. A printed kimono, like the one I wore HERE, would add additional color/print.

September 3, 2018 at 6:58 pmI imagine NC can be brutal on a fashion blogger. It can stay above the 70’s even in December. I feel like we skip Fall most years. The stores are bringing out the cutest Fall fashions. Love your white top paired with the those shoes.
Just perfect.

September 3, 2018 at 4:56 pmWhat a great look, that corset style top is perfect on you! I really thought of getting it when you wore the olive one but my middle is too fluffy! This looks great with your denim shorts and the ties on the espadrilles. Such an elegant way to wear denim shorts Jess that only you could pull off! Love it, hope you had a great Labor Day!
