03 Oct Fall Fashion Styling Tip- Mixing Textures
I have a styling tip for you for the Fall Season. Mixing textures is one of my favorite things about this season for fashion.
Fall Fashion Styling Tip- Mixing Textures
One thing I love about Fall- (besides everything!), is the ability to mix textures and fabrics that make for an eye-catching and interesting look.
Look beyond your sweaters, jeans and sneakers or boots (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and try and create a multi-textural outfit.
Here I started with a more monochromatic look with taupe colors. You certainly don’t have to go monochromatic, but I began with this taupe silk blouse, and my age-old LOFT lace skirt. Looking for a low heel, I took out my tall suede taupe booties. Now, I wanted a third layering piece and added texture and print with this cashmere leopard cardigan. My favorite brahmin bag in croc texture completes the look. I also added my touch with a tweed brooch. Think about how you could style a textured look.
Think about the type of textures we see now in stores, or ones you already own in your closet. Tweed, leather, faux leather, silk, cashmere, denim, lace.
Here is ANOTHER POST with a Fall textured look.
Try mixing these textures with three pieces as the weather gets colder.
- Examples- try a tweed skirt with a faux leather blouse and some suede booties.
- Denim with a tweed jacket and a silk shirt.
- A silk skirt or slip dress with a cashmere oversized sweater or cable knit sweater and leather boots.
- Faux leather and leather are a big trend this year. ( I love it every year). Try mixing a leather and lace look- leather or faux leather trousers with a lace blouse and a blazer. Add additional texture with a croc or other textured bag or clutch.
Just experiment and have fun with it! Take some of your clothes out of your closet and try mixing. It really is creative and fun to do. Get out of your comfort zone, and you might like what outfits you create.
What? We are in October?
This year is kind of zipping by. I know you don’t want to hear everything about the health journey I am on, so I will say, I am continually doing treatment with PFPT, and it is not something solved overnight. I am getting some relief, but it is a long haul. Good and bad days, as it used to be. Just wish I could sit longer
Now, one thing I know is there are days when I am not great, and I do look for a little “retail therapy”. Anyone else? Well, lately I have been shopping on Poshmark, secondhand, so I will share some of those goodies on the blog. I also go to my favorite store, Mango and see what’s new in store.
Usually, the months with holidays go quite quickly, and family is coming here this year for those holidays, and I am grateful!
So tell me, do you like to mix textures in your Fall and Winter looks? Iet me hear from you in the comments! If you haven’t tried it, will you give it a go? It is quite fun too.
Also , thank you to the ladies that have written me in support. Illness and health issues are tough, so I appreciate it greatly.
All of these pieces are older from my closet, but you can shop like pieces here and I will post on my Like to know it shop as well.

Posted at 08:57h, 03 OctoberI adore this multi-textured outfit, Jess! Fantastic look! And yes, retail therapy helps me through some bad days as well. Like you, I shop second hand, so at least my therapy isn’t too costly. I am glad you are getting some good days now.

Posted at 07:17h, 03 OctoberEspecially in hot climates, differing textures really adds interest. Fall dressing is hard when it’s still it hot but I find that texture is one way to feel more like Fall without dying of heat stroke!
