Turning Heads Linkup-Textured Look with Lace, Velvet, and Faux Leather

Morning friends

As the weather warms up, I wanted to make sure I styled another one of my velvet pieces. This jacket was from Ann Taylor and a steal on Poshmark. I was on a spree there for awhile, with the on-line thrift store, but lately have just been browsing, as I need more spring blouses and next season’s clothes. I am ready for some Spring shopping! It was a grey day, as we went out to one of our favorite wine bars, but beforehand, a photoshoot!

Well, earlier today when i was taking a photo shoot ( in the street) in front of a neighbor’s house, there were some things said. My hubby and I asked months ago, in which she agreed, if we could take pictures there. We  never show the woman’s house, as my husband is shooting my outfits and the tree in the background. All of a sudden, she started yelling, “Do not take pictures in front of my house, Do not take pictures…  I will call the cops!

I was a bit rattled, as there was never a mention of this before. But oh well, the joys of humanity! I wondered if she meant the Fashion police, or the actual police. …

SO… we went to Birkdale, otherwise known as Barkdale to my pups…

The rust colored faux leather pencil skirt is several years old from Zara, ( as you know, one of my favorite stores!) as is the frilly, ruffled lace shell under my jacket. Shopping my closet, I felt these 2 pieces were meant to be together. I love textured looks, especially in the Fall-Winter as there are so many fabrics that lend themselves to this styling. The pecan colored Brahmin bag adds lady-like shape and additional texture to the look and i had to add some print with my leopard heels.

Love this outfit, Jess. The color combination is so pretty and you know I love velvet too. I guess we need to get it in before it gets too warm. Strange that your neighbor got upset. Who knows what people are thinking! Glad you had another place to take your beautiful pictures. – Amy

Also, what a weirdo neighbor! Call the cops for what? You’re not inside her house! Talk about overreacting!

Another beautiful look, Jess. I really love that leather skirt and paired with the lace…no wonder they say leather and lace. Sounds like your neighbor lost her marbles. Sorry about that. Happy Wednesday! XO

Wow! That experience would have really rattled me. I wonder what her beef was? Although I don’t think she had a legal leg to stand on, anyone can take pictures outside on a public street even if if private residences are in the background. Oh well, on the positive side your outfit is amazing! LOVE the blazer and skirt.

Gorgeous outfit, my friend! I love the brown velvet. And the color combination is so rich and beautiful. And my goodness, what a story! I always have neighbors’ houses in the background of my photos although I don’t think any of my neighbors even know that I write a blog. They probably think I’m just some weirdo who likes to take pictures of myself! Hahaha. Oh well. I don’t see what harm would come from their houses being in the background. It’s not like their names or the street name is anywhere to be found! I won’t tell if you won’t tell!

Beautiful outfit! Love the lace and leather combo. I actually thought it was a dress! Your bag is totally gorgeous and love the structure. It looks very sophisticated and pairs perfectly with your classy outfit. Yes we try our best to not take any pictures near houses just to avoid any commotion. That’s just terrible though and seems a little silly. I would probably just talk to you in person instead of yelling and getting all riled up.

Looking lovely and so elegant Jess! I especially love that Brahmin bag – I am all about those feminine shapes – so ladylike. They remind me of vintage handbags that I’ve always had a thing for!
Man, I’m so sorry about your crazy neighbor, wow! We always take pictures on our street and I try hard not get anyone’s mailbox in the shot but it’s tricky. I’m so self conscious taking pictures anyway I’d probably die if someone yelled at me. Thank goodness your husband was there with you. Maybe she was talking about the fashion police, lol. Some people, I swear! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Your story of being yelled at by your neighbor made me literally laugh out loud. I’m sure every blogger has stories like that—in my post this week, my boyfriend and I were escorted out of the hotel lobby we were trying to shoot in! At least you look fantastic, as always!

So funny about the crazy neighbor lady! How can she stop you, or anyone, from taking photos in the street? I used to take photos on a local community college campus and stopped because a security guard said I needed to leave because the campus was closed. I’ve never been back. Another time I was taking photos at our local outlet mall early in the morning and a security guard came up to see what I was doing. He said as long as I wasn’t taking photos of merchandise inside shop windows I was fine. i don’t relish the thought of being watched on security cameras, so I pretty much never go there anymore.

You look beautiful in this gorgeous mix of colors and textures. Your leopard shoes and pretty bag compliment your entire look wonderfully!

I know Jennie! It was crazy, especially since we had talked to her months before and she said fine. So right, we are on the street not even taking pictures of her house or anyones home. Anyhow.. we will be going to different parks and locations soon anyway. Sounds like you had a bit of a trying time! So glas you enjoyed the look! xx
