Turning Heads Linkup-Finding Your Personal Style- Romantic and Classic

Finding your personal style- something we all want to do with our wardrobes, especially when new seasons start and we may be purging my closet a bit. My style is a mix – as I think most women’s styles are, and I tend to gravitate toward a romantic and classic style.

Personal Style

When you look at your closet, what do you see? Are you a lady who enjoys bold prints, or are you one that typically sticks with solid colors?

Do you wear more neutrals, or do you love color?

What do you want your style to SAY about YOU?

These are just a few of the first basic questions you can ask when assessing your style.

Your personal style is certainly one that expresses your personality, creativity and how you live your life. (Lifestyle)

A mix of styles you like is more than likely, but many ladies will gravitate toward a certain style.

Think about what you feel most confident in , or what assets you have. Do you like to show off your legs? Does your style accentuate that?

If you haven’t used Pinterest, it is a great tool in getting to know what you like, and what you want out of your wardrobe/style.

Look at pictures, celebrities, other midlife ladies, and pin the ones that catch your eye. Ask yourself, why do you like this look? Do you have pieces like it in your closet?

You can use these tools to add to your idea of what your own personal style is. If you find a celebrity look you like, you don’t have to copy it piece for piece but rather (to coin an American Idol phrase), “Make it your own.”

Take pictures wearing some of the outfits in your closet that feel like “you”, describe them, and why you think they are your style.

Some people enjoy making visual boards., either on the computer ( like Pinterest) or actually cutting pictures out of magazines to make a “style collage”.

These are just some questions and Ideas to get you started, if you need to think about your “Personal style” a bit more in 2022.

My Style

Here are some of my traits with my own style-to give you an example.

  • love eye catching florals
  • blazers – plaid, solid, double breasted, single buttoned to amplify a look.
  • I am a moto jacket kind of gal in various colors.
  • My color pallete is “Autumn” so I love clothes with a warm palette that works with my skin tone and hair.
  • Dress girl-. Lately I have been preferring midi dresses, as they are most flattering with my tall stature.
  • I love gold jewelry and vintage pieces.

These are just a few examples to show you how I begin to look at my personal style. My style has evolved over the years, and that is what makes it so interesting

My Outfit

In today’s outfit, I am wearing one of my favorite romantics rose floral dresses, in pine green. The pine green certainly can transition to Fall and Winter, and instead of wearing a sweater over it (which you could do) I chose this rose-pink moto jacket. The robust burgundy leather hobo bag compliments the pink and are tones found in the dress. I wore drop earrings, and my boots are neutral tone to balance the look.

What is your personal style? Have you thought about it recently?

Let me hear from you in the comments. I love to!

I think I am an autumn, too. Or at least those are the colors I love most. But our coloring is not similar so maybe I am mistaken. At any rate, this dress is fabulous. The best colors in the world. Gorgeous moto jacket. Looks kind of like a pearly blush. Just beautiful.

I like your tips for considering your personal style. It is true that there are some outfits that just feel like home. Feel ‘right’. I need to go back over my photos and see which looks are the ones I felt best in.

The older (and wiser!) I get, the more attuned to my personal style I become. I am definitely a neutral-classic kind of woman 😉

A very harmonious blend of colors! I think our style definitely shapes itself as we get older – we might become bolder , we certainly understand better what suits us.

I totally adore this outfit, Jess. The colors are just so yummy! I’m still determining my style, but it is not super frilly, and it rarely involves neutrals. LOL!

What a lovely dress and your earrings are gorgeous too! I have to admit that spending so much time locked down over the past 2 years, my style has “evolved” to track pants and t-shirts! I certainly need to get some style – mojo happening!

You look beautiful in this outfit Jess! The floral print is so lovely and feminine. In addition, these are great suggestions for finding personal style. On my end, my style is pretty basic and simple. I love neutrals and I love pieces without the bells and whistles! In a way, my style is a bit boring but I find comfort in that. It makes me happy to be basic and simple!

What a great article Jess, most of us are a mix of styles. Too many women look at what they think should wear rather than honing in on what comes naturally to them and what they’re instinctively drawn to. A beautiful outfit today.

This is a beautiful look on you, Jess! I love the romantic-boho chic vibe-it suits you so well. Your rose pink moto jacket is a great find, and is the perfect winter layer to keep the color scheme light. Thanks for the link up and have a good week!

So pretty! My style is all over the places but I do really like boho vibes! I really love your earrings and how romantic this look is. I am drawn to dresses this year and it is just going to be a matter to find styles that I like. I am thinking flowy skirts but fitted at the waist. Having the hardest time with finding dresses with real waist and not empire waist.

This is something I’ve been thinking of so much lately! I am changing up my style a bit. I just don’t seem to fit neatly in one category or another but I am continuing to evolve – I really like tailored, classic pieces and lately I am leaning more towards neutrals. But I also love a little bit of edge!

Jess, I tend to think of personal style as ever evolving. It changes in response to the changes that occur in our lives. While there may be an underlying aesthetic(s), the expression of it/them can and should be an ongoing exploration.
