13 Mar Floral and fresh scents
Ok, I am going to show my age here a bit, and say I remember a perfume that was around the house growing up . Who remembers Jean Nate? I can not remember all of the names, but remember many with a very strong scent, and also a musky smell. That definately is not me!! I also remember my dad’s soap on a rope, and Polo for men. I now love floral scents, clean and light My favorite perfume is Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, and I do also like the Chance line. As a gift two Valentine’s Day’s ago, I received Miss Dior, which is quite pretty, although a bit stronger than the others. Marc Jacobs has some scents I have in my collection, such as Daisy, but I received Coach Poppy this Valentine’s Day and love it. I think anytime you look at something repeatedly, it means deep down it is something you want. I do love lavendar, orchid, many floral scents, just not musky. Cupid did deliver Poppy, and I love it, Orchid and other floral smells permeate with just enough of a light crisp scent I enjoy.
I am really glad as well, that I don’t have my puppie’s sense of smell! s A dog’s sense of smell is about 1,000 to 10,000,000 times more sensitive than a human’s (depending on the breed) It is crazy, my dogs love the Sombra ( or cream I have to put on my legs for pain control) but can’t even be a foot away from my Chanel perfume. However, my husband can make bacon for breakfast downstairs, we have the door closed, and they still smell it! I am sure they would love a bacon scented perfume. Not me so much.
The next perfume I am looking to buy is either Flowerbomb by Victor and Rolf, and another lovely one I recently tried and earned a sample of is Balenciaga’s Rosabotanica. I HAD to get a perfume now that I am totally in love with. At 100.00 an ounce, sounds like a fair amount, but again, it goes back to the discussion I had a few weeks ago, with cost per use. I have perfume that have lasted years as you need a dot of perfume on the wrist, and the scent lasts. So, these are some of my favorites. .
What is your favorite scent, and what makes it special to you?

Posted at 12:02h, 15 MarchOk, I am gong to show my age, too. I remember Lair du temps, Worth and white shoulders, which i still sometimes wear around the house… I remember a time when scents were more popular, no one was embarrased by a strong floral note, ( current trend in NY tend is “fresh” rather like men’s cologne”) With floral back in fashion I am glad to see floral perfumes making their way back! I love rose and honeysuckle, I also love citrus notes. I think your choices, or rather Cupid’s choices are perfect! I also love those bottles! I am a sucker for a lovely perfume bottle!
Great post Jess!

Posted at 12:06h, 15 MarchThanks Elle, me too ! I remember Lair Du temps! I was looking on Etsy at the perfume bottle with the atomizer, the kind of pump that is attached to the perfume bottle. I think those are so neat and elegant! I am going to get one of the vintage ones, and just put it on my perfume tray. I agree, Fresh is the word!
Thanks , have a lovely day

Posted at 13:53h, 13 MarchLove that gorgeous Balenciaga bottle! Would be curious to see if I could actually wear it. I’ve always wanted to be the kind of woman that changed perfumes to suite my mood, but I’m much more of a signature scent kind of woman. I’ve been wearing Chanel’s Allure – a fragrance that’s light and fresh – for years now. I’m definitely ready for a change and would love to find something that’s not too overpowering. Thanks for all of these suggestions!
One side not – Our pug Bella seems to love Allure, but I agree with you, I’m sure she would much rather me wear a bacon-scented perfume 😉

Posted at 14:00h, 13 MarchHi Mary! I do too. I still have a bottle of Chanel’s Mademoiselle that has lasted me 2 years , 1.7 ounces, however, I use other perfumes. I am thinking about asking for the same amount in the Balenciaga perfume. I have a small bottle, sample and it is wonderful!! If you like florals you would like this scent.
I never tried Allure. I have tried their Chance line, a springy, summery light citrus/floral line, which I have a bottle of but not Allure. Go to Sephora, and try them out there! Saves you from going to gather sample strips from magazines.:-)) Yes, funny about some scents they can handle and others, no way!

Posted at 09:47h, 13 MarchWell, Jess, I, too, love Chanel. Number 5 and Coco are my favorites. Opium, Paris and Oscar de la Renta’s original scent, and Donna Karan are perfumes I always ask for and sometimes buy myself! I also love many of the Philosophy scents: Inner Grace (my favorite), Amazing Grace (you get the idea) and their latest called Cream. I’ve always wanted to choose a signature scent, but, just can’t reduce my arsenal to just one. By the way, not only do I remember Jean Nate, but a former, back in the day, boss once gave all the women in the office Evening in Paris (horrible) on her return from a Paris vacation!
