Gingham Sundress for Summer

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

i just couldn’t resist this cute gingham sundress with the shoulder ties and longer length. It reminded me of the blue and white gingham “Dorothy” wore in the Wizard of Oz. So on that note, I had to include my Toto, my little boy, Gibson!

Things are back to a routine at the home front, as my Mom left last Thursday back to Pittsburgh. We had so much fun while she was here bopping from one area of Charlotte to the next. I love showing the family around the town and to favorite hot spots of ours. Let’s just say we ate and drank well, and did a lot! My niece and sister, along with mom and my hubby were going Geocashing and it is a great way for kids to get outdoors.

I planted Knockout roses and I’ll share what they look like tomorrow on the blog. Mom has an enviable garden at home, and I want a small taste of what that is like beside our deck outside.

Outfit

I did order this dress from Mango in red and white gingham, but when it came it arrived in blue and white. I didn’t exchange it as I still love the colors and one of my favorite movies was the Wizard of Oz growing up. I just had to include Gibby in my photoshoot, as he really is like my Toto, following me wherever I go. Now, all I need is a basket and a yellow brick road. Instead, you will have to settle for a windy gravelly trail!

I have been a fan of gingham for a while now, as it is classic and reminds me of vintage outfits my mom used to wear.
I have styled gingham before in this post and this post to name a few.

Instead of a basket, I do have a woven rattan white circle bag, that does have a gingham or picnic navy and white fabric inside.

I wore some large floral statement earrings in bold cobalt for some whimsy and added my baby blue brooch.

Light blush pink espadrilles added a touch of color to the look. I just love espadrilles in the summer!

I love that the dress has ties at the waist to further accentuate the waist. It is so light and airy, no wonder I love wearing dresses in the summer!

The dress is no longer on the Mango site, but I have linked up some other gingham dresses for you to peruse. Believe me, if it were still there I would have bought the one in red too!

Follow the yellow brick road…… or in our case, the gravel nature trail!

My little Toto- Gibson!  FYI- Toto was a portrayed as a boy in the movie, The Wizard of Oz, but was actually a girl dog 🙂 !

I need some ruby red slippers! 🙂

Ooh, Jess, I love that dress!! Gotta remember Mango, for sure. And Gibson is adorable. We recently lost our Toto, a Cairn Terrier named Scooter. I really miss him! The dress truly does channel the Wizard of Oz!

Thank you Darlene! They may even be having a sale now! I got most of my summer dresses there this year. Gibby is my angel and Shadow. Truffles will be in the spotlight soon, I’m sure. I am sorry to hear about your pup Scooter! Awww, I love dogs so much, these angels are the best. I feel for you, it is hard. Glad you like the look! xx

This dress looks lightweight, cool and perfect for dog walks in the Summer! Funny you mention the Wizard of Oz – now I can see it. That’s one of my favorite movies too.

That is the perfect summer dress my friend! I love gingham and the easy, breezy style of this one is just so pretty. Love the ties at the shoulders and the longer length that you wear so well. That straw bag is great too – really love the color! It is reminiscent of Wizard of Oz – such a classic movie and this classic dress is a keeper on a beauty like you!
