31 Oct Happy Halloween- Light Orange Velvet BLazer, Dark Floral Dress, Suede Booties
Hello friends!
I am planning on posting Part II of my trip on Thursday this week, so please do come by and check out more of my trip to Santa Fe and Taos, more pictures! ( not to mention it also being My Refined Linkup as well)
Hope you enjoyed the weekend. We went to a Hallo-wine Festival Saturday, wine tasting, food trucks, music, kid’s events etc. Brought the puppies and it was a good time.
I hope you enjoy Halloween tonight, if you celebrate it. Hubby, me and the pups have decided to sit outside and pass out candy. I was joking with hubby when I told him, ” Now, we only give out candy to the kids with the homemade costumes, ok” None of that, ” Draw-a-smile-on-a-white-sheet “Im a Ghost” -kind of costume!” Kidding. I do remember though, back in the day, when my mom made our costumes. I was a rabbit , a black cat, a monk ( and won first prize as a contest) yes, Mom sewed me a brown gown with hood, I had a white beard, and wore a rope belt, as I chanted Gregorian Chant while in a circle with the other kids. I also remember First Grade when mom used ribbed cardboard around my body, I had a black bodysuit, and used my Disney cap as the make-shift trash can lid stuck to my cap( beanie). Dad has spray painted trashcan on the body of my costume, and then I remember stapling or gluing paper cartons of milk, candy wrappers and more to my “can”. It was a pretty cool costume now that I remember it.
Today, however, I am not wearing a costume, but rather an outfit I would wear any time during these fall months, but am incorporating orange and black. As you know, Velvet is hot this season. It is something I have always loved, so my closet has a fair amount of blazers, dresses etc, that you will be seeing on the blog. All of the velvet you will see coming up on the blog are pieces I have had for awhile. I do love that it is “in fashion” or ” on trend” when I have loved it all along, the richness and saturated colors really appeal to me.
I bought this blazer from J Crew, a kind of burdnt or lighter orange, I suppose. I don’t have a costume, but can share some of the color schemes of the holiday..that also flow nicely into fall, nonetheless. The dress, a wrap dress from Karina, is a dark floral pattern with browns, blacks and bits of blue. The boots I had just purchased from Nordstrom, as I have been looking for a tan pair of block heeled booties, as I think they add to this vintage inspired look.
( As much as i love these boots, I am going to have to return them and be back on the “hunt” for tan booties, they are a bit too high. These are 2.5 inch, I need a bit under 2 inches. Cie La Vie!
Outfit Details: Velvet Blazer ( J Crew), older, earrings: vintage Etsy, Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff (old, like this), Dress: c/o Karina Dresses ( like this) please click on side banner for Karina dresses as it is an affiliate link. Booties: Halogen.
Everyone… stay BOO-TIFUL! 🙂

Posted at 17:36h, 02 NovemberJess, I love this look. Your blazer is very cute, both the cut and the color. It tops your dress perfectly and compliments your purse and boots. Perfect for fall and Halloween. I’m glad to see others doing the Halloween colors without being in costume. We should be able to wear whatever colors we want, right? You definitely prove it here! – Amy
