23 Feb How to Wear Neutrals
Hello Ladies
It seemed we had a warm spell, 40 degrees! I hope you are all staying warm and cozy. Today, I wanted to wear neutrals and will give a few tips on how to so do.
I do enjoy color and have worn more color over the past 15 years than I used to wear. However, I do love wearing neutral as well, from time to time. There are so many classic looks and combinations that feature neutral looks, black, navy, white, camel, leopard, off-white, other neutral looks can be very interesting especially when one adds other rich tones, varies the neutral shades, and adds a pop of color.
I love this vintage looking lace skirt by Ann Taylor. Well made lace always draws me in. The sweater color is that of an oatmeal shade, and just by itself, would not provide enough interest. Add in textures, such as fur around the neck, rich colors like the cognac boots, and a dark plum satchel and the nuetral tones become much more interesting with a bit of flair.
If you are looking to wear neutrals, think of accessories. For instance, if you wore a white blouse and camel colored skirt, what would you add to make it more fun and visually appealing? One could add a leopard scarf, a print scarf with a color print, perhaps some rich chocolate boots for added depth, and a handbag, such as an alligator print, or textured one by Brahmin, a company that makes wonderful textured rich leather bags.
My look adds vintage pieces which also adds to the uniqueness and interest with neutral tones. One of a kind jewelry will also add to the neutral look. The vintage earrings were bought on Etsy, a place I love for vintage jewelry.
So, to recap, add texture. ( lace, tweed, etc shoes/boots, fur etc), Add a pop of color to add more visual interest. Think of unique accessories. ( scarves, handbags, shoes,) etc. If you neutral look is more monochromatic, add other colors in the ame color family that are darker shades for compatibility/

Posted at 01:22h, 25 FebruarySo beautiful skirt! You are right, wearing neutrals all over would look a bit boring. But adding some interesting contrasting accessories make such outfit more interesting. Like these boots and bag in your case, a really nice choice.

Posted at 18:28h, 24 FebruaryThank you Elle. I always love well made lace ( maybe you will be sick of it, as I planned another outfit with lace tomorrow… hehe) but I have always loved feminie looks. This bag I really liked when it was popular on the Purse Forum, one I belonged to years ago. I loved the ruffles and the braids. Glad you like it too ( u have great taste in handbags!). Thanks so much friend! xo

Posted at 12:41h, 23 FebruaryI saw your boots on Shoe and Tell and I had to stop by to give you a bit of history on them. I see that you purchased yours from a vintage shop. Well, I am 49 and I purchased them at the age of 17 from a big retailer in Southern California. They are by Marc Alpert Italian Collection. The boots are also the type that Molly Ringwald wore in the Breakfast Club. I managed to keep mine for so long because I have the leather conditioned and I don’t wear them often.

Posted at 16:37h, 23 FebruaryThank you Glenda! Wow, that is really neat, love to know the history of things. I love the look of them and the rich leather. I appreciate the info and glad you stopped by~! xx
