I Found Leather Trousers Secondhand for $50! How I Styled Them

I found leather trousers secondhand and paid only $50!

Leather Trousers

I’ve been on the hunt for some real leather trousers ever since some of my faux leather pieces have crackled. after a few years. I think it was from dryness. What I bought straightaway, was a leather conditioner, as to keep these trousers moisturized. I bought this conditioner.

So, you know Poshmark and I are great friends! I came across this brand, Margaret Godfrey on Ebay, and decided to search for leather pants under this brand on Poshmark. I came across these trousers that were hardly worn and loved the flat front style. You could certainly wear these more casually with a cute pair of fashion sneakers, but I chose to dress them up today on the blog.

Who Is the designer, Margaret Godfrey?

Margaret Godfrey is vintage clothing designer, who was the head of the design department at Bagatelle.  The company, Bagatelle, hired her to be the head designer in 1967. While the company was located in Montreal, Canada, Godfrey was inspired by the London Boutique looks of the 1980s. So, while these trousers can be considered vintage, they were hardly worn.

I bought these trousers for $50 shipped from a seller and made sure to ask for measurements before buying. This is key! Whether it is Ebay or Poshmark, get the measurements. If I am buying pants, I always ask for waist measurement, hip, inseam and rise. These are a higher rise and a longer inseam, so that is what I was looking for. They are lined and really in primo shape! If you buy something vintage, ask the condition, but measurements are even more important, as sizes may have been cut smaller in the past.  There are no returns for Poshmark, and not many sellers have returns on Ebay, so this is the one con.

Styling the pants with a cowl neck taupe sweater, I added a signature touch of the burgundy brooch, and took out my leopard print booties. I am still not quite able to wear trousers but have them as another incentive to get better.

The Bruno Magli leather bag is one I wear frequently.

Do you have leather pants in your wardrobe? Have you tried looking secondhand?

Oh, I wish I had these instead of my faux-vegan-pleather leggings. These are much classier. And more versatile I think. You can make them edgy with something boho on top or dress them down with a graphic tee. But the way you have styled them here is superb. And your photos are especially lovely, too. How are you feeling in this shiny new year?

What a steal! I know “leather” pieces can cost so much more. Postmark really does have a ton of gems for less. I don’t own leather pants but I have been seeing them more lately. Perhaps, I should give them a try? I hope you had a great weekend and your week is off to a great start! It’s raining over here in my neck of the woods so I am enjoying just watching it come down.

I LOVE this look on you, Jess! The trousers are an absolute knockout…and for just $50?! That’s amazing! I used to have a fabulous pair of leather jeans, about twenty years ago and I adored them. I can’t remember what happened to them, but maybe I just grew tired of them. Such a shame though, because they were not only comfy but looked cool too!
    Big hugs

Yep love these Jess. You’ve styled them so well too. I’ve only ever had faux and yes they crack don’t they. Maybe I should look for leather ones! Jacqui x
