17 Jun Linen Shirtdress in The Summer with Neutral Accessories
Morning friends!
I hope you had a great weekend and a Happy Father’s Day!
Today, after a busy weekend at the Symphony and brunch in Ballyntyne, I’m ready for a bit of a more laid back week. This outfit, an off-white sleeveless linen shirt dress from Zara gives off a casual and easy breezy look.
Busy Time with Mom
I am the type that likes to be active and do things. I do consider myself a homebody to an extent, but after a few days of being home, I am ready to explore places. Tonight we are taking mom to the Symphony in the park, we’ve dined at the Ballantyne Hotel for an outdoor brunch this weekend, took her to see Rocketman ( which we both could see again!)
We have eaten well. We’ve enjoyed wine and cocktails. Mom and I made an authentic Spanish Sangria, with Brandy. It was quite delish!
Our area is surrounded by nearly 100 Vineyards in NC, and we spent the day with my mom, sister and niece at Daveste Vineyards. We are ones to enjoy dry fruit-forward wines, and mom loves Rose, so Scuppernong and Muscadine are not our choices. The pond and waterfall, along with the grounds and people at the Vineyard made for a lovely day, along with our packed picnic. We have had a blast!
We will be hitting the pool this coming week and I am ready to begin reading some of these books- Daisy Jones and the Six, and She Was Gone.
Outfit
I do love color and am also a fan of classic neutrals. I mentioned before that when you wear neutrals, patterns and texture add more interest to the look. Living in the South, and nearing menopause, you could say I have a tendency to sweat a bit. 😉 So, I have really developed an affection for linen over the past 3 years. I know it wrinkles, but it doesn’t bother me now. It really does keep you cool!
This shirt dress is easy to wear, has detailed stitching, and can be worn in several ways.
I love to dress up a shirt dress with a silk neck scarf, in one of my favorite patterns ( snakeskin) and also pieces of gold jewelry.
You could wear this dress open as a duster with a cami and a pair of trousers.
I’ve been quite happy with this belt purchase from mango, as I love the texture, the wood and the rich chocolate brown color. I’ve dressed up a maxi dress here, in my post last week, and added it to this look for a change.
I am big on straw and rattan bags as you know, and this light Mango clutch was from last year.
I’ve styled this look with a gold bracelet( c/o), ring (c/o) and gold ball drop earrings. For a subtle change, I am wearing some blush pink espadrille wedges which is a soft neutral I chose instead of black or brown.
What is on your agenda of things to do this summer? Are you styling neutral looks for summer?
Have a great day!
Jess xx

Posted at 15:06h, 04 JulyThe dress is fabulous and I live in natural fiber clothes; in summer, it’s cotton and linen for coolness. I’ve been known to wear a dress while on the tractor but now that I have a tractor with air conditioning, it doesn’t matter as much. Hope your Independence day was wonderful; thanks to everyone who has anything to do with our freedom!

Posted at 10:10h, 05 JulyHi ! I know where you are coming from! I am in the South and we have very hot days. I used to not like the fact that linen wrinkles, and now I am fine with it, as if keep me much cooler, as does cotton, like you mentioned. That takes priority now! So great you now have a tractor with air, I bet that is a relief. I hope you too enjoyed the Holiday! xx

Thanks for stopping by! I should try some zebra print, as zebra is the mascot or symbok for EDS ( Ehlers Danlos Syndrome).! It is quite popular now, and I have always loved palm prints too. xx

Posted at 12:12h, 17 JuneI love the look of that linen dress, especially styled with the belt. I don’t normally reach for neutrals in the summer. My brain just goes more toward bright colors! It sure works for you though!

Posted at 07:22h, 17 JuneI really need to up my linen game – I don’t think I own ANY! But gosh I need to keep cool in this miserable heat. Love that belt too – I do need one myself. Sounds like you all have been having lots of fun! I think brandy is exactly what makes sangria good – I have a recipe I love! Looking great Jess!!!

We have been doing so much, so fun! But I am tired! So right. i didn’t think I would like brandy, but it is so good in a Sangrira receipe. xx

Posted at 06:07h, 17 JuneI adore this dress, Jess! I used to really dislike linen but I’ve grown to love it too (probably because, like you say, it’s a good fabric if you sweat lol). I’ve just bought a gorgeous linen shirt which I’ll be featuring on the blog soon enough.
Hugs

Posted at 10:41h, 17 JuneThank you Anna! I love linen as it gets really hot here in the summer. It is one fabric along with cotton that keeps me cool. Glad you like the look, I was glad I bought the belt, as it goes with many dresses in my closet. xx
