Loving The Sweater Dress -Boiled Wool Jacket+ My Refined Style Linkup#4

IMG_0220

Hello Ladies

Welcome back to the My Refined Style Linkup, the first of 2016! We are here on the 1st Thursday of each month,  spreading our joy of fashion and seeing all of your great outfits too! I can’t remember when I began my Love Affair. Not of a torrid nature, mind you, but my love affair with Sweater Dresses! I have quite a few in my closet and I always have felt that “comfortable” should not be a four letter word in the fashion industry. I used to watch Stacey and Clinton, of What Not to Wear Tv fame, and almost everyone they had to “fix” described their clothes as comfortable. Well, I am here to say, one can be comfortable and stylish!!

I think sweater dresses feel as good as wearing a chanille robe. I just can’t wear that in public. Perhaps you like flannel pjs. Well, one can’t wear those out either. ( although I think there was a “movement” several years ago, where it was a trend to wear ones pjs out in public, often with Uggs as their shoes, ( slippers). I would be sitting at Bruegger’s noticing a small parade of younger girls in their jammies and thought to tell them about the Sweater Dress.

I love many shades of green, but brought out my olive LOFT sweater dress I have had for a number of years, and wanted to create a  look with my boiled wool frilly jacket,  gold  and yes another pair of Over the Knee boots , made by Born in black suede. I broke up the look a bit, with the floral lace black tights, as I am a fan of pattered tights as well. As you know, I love details, and this mostly monochromatic look is broken up with the patterned leopard clutch, floral tights, and gold and green leaf Banana Republic necklace.

I love sweater dresses. In fact I did a guest post on it a while ago but it was about fancy sweater dresses that are appropriate for the holidays.

There are just so many colors that look great on you because of your stunning red hair. This green sweater dress is no exception. Great look and love the Over the Knee boots. Great to be co-hosting with you on My Refined Style!

That olive color is BEAUTIFUL. I like wearing sweater dresses, too, especially during winter. I love neutral colors. They can be paired with anything!

The olive green is a lovely colour – my husband saw your picture on Facebook and said you always wear really nice colours that suit your red hair…it’s not often he notices something like that! Love the long boots!

Jess, you are so right, wearing a sweater dress is like wearing a chenille robe, I just never thought of that way. I have found that wearing a sweater dress with a pair of tights is a whole lot warmer and more cozy than going out in a pair of jeans or pants, and we look so much more refined, right? Love this olive on you!

Yes so true! I have a fair number of sweater dreses in my closet, I always felt they looked put together and cozy is a win in my book! Thank you Trina! xx
