10 Jul Turning Heads Linkup -My Favorite New Linen Floral Dress- and Birthdays!

She stared at me from across the computer screen. Bright red flowers adorned her and the ruffled accented sleeves just made her more adorable in my eyes. I am talking about my new dress! Yes, I was browsing the Zara site as I often do several times a week, and saw this dress. If I keep going back to look at something, with interest, most often it is something that calls out to me. With a plentiful closet, this is how I am buying clothing these days, I HAVE TO LOVE IT- and I love it! and… there were a couple of birthday celebrations over the weekend too.

My  Dress

The bright red pattern on a pink base was striking to my eye and I was also in the market for a linen dress. Score! This was linen, a fabric i knew I wanted more of for my closet, as the heat this summer, in NC was nearly unbearable. As I wrote in this post, Trending Now, Linen, I am now attracted to linen and not bothered by its wrinkled characteristic. If you “go with the flow” and just accept it as part of linen’s personality, then you can enjoy wearing it. I looked forward to wearing it to dinner.

I wore this dress initially to my mom’s surprise party in Pittsburgh. In true, flower child spirit, I walked around the house, serving guests initially in my bare feet, as women remarked, “A girl after my own heart’, to the fact that I was barefoot. I put on these Betsey Johnson pearled heels for family photos, and felt quite comfortable in this outfit.

This is one of our favorite places for a photo shoot, as we eat brunch afterward, within walking distance to Alton’s Kitchen. This day, I had a little audience. This boy, around 10, was sitting on the bench looking at the puppies and watching my hubby take pictures.

Birthdays

My fur boy Gibson, turned 7 over this weekend, and it is hard to believe how the time has passed. I find it hard to believe it is July already! He is such a joy, as is Truffles and I love them so much! I wake up each day to a face full of fur, as Gibson, loves to lie next to me, with his body against my back. I think he just reassures himself that “mommy’ is there. He is funny, outgoing and basically my shadow. I wouldn’t want it any other way! I think we were driving my mom a bit crazy when she stayed with us, all of the “mommy” and “daddies” we spoke .. hey, we can’t help it. I read an article recently that says, if you talk to your dog, thus anthropomorphizing , you are smarter than those who don’t speak to their pets.. so see? If I read it on Facebook, it has to be true, right? lol!

It is official. I am the Big 5-0! My birthday was July 8th, over the weekend, and we celebrated it with a lovely dinner at a fancy smancy restaurant here in Charlotte.
