30 Aug My Hair – How I Style It, Products I Use
Hi friends!
Happy Friday!
I had several requests from readers lately to talk about my hair and what I use. Happy to! I am going to share the products I use and how I style my hair.
Speaking to my hairstylist, I have gone through times where I think I may want to try a new style like a Long Angled Bob, or something fresh. According to my hairstylist, Mindy, certain shorter hairstyles are actually “more work”, maintenance and upkeep, due to the style. If you are getting an angled bob, haircuts more often are necessary.
Mine is relatively easy to style.
My Stylist and Hair
At this point in my life, at 51, I am getting my hair colored. There is the natural color and the addition of grey and white that is showing. If I chose not to get my hair done, it would probably be white by now. I have a lot of white and grey hair coming in! I don’t know what I will do in the future, if I may go “white” or grey or continue to color. I feel it is a personal decision each lady has to make. I don’t see my hair drastically getting cut anytime soon either, as the last time I had shorter hair was in high school. . I do like long hair for my face and feel it is another personal decision and what makes you feel your best.
What is great is Mindy, my stylist, who is also my friend, comes to my house to do my hair. It does help when I am having a “bad day” from EDS and I can be myself in a bathrobe when she comes to do my hair. I used to see her in the Salon, where she arranged for me to lay down on a cushioned table in another room for my comfort, as I was not doing as well with my health. I would be in another room laying down while my hair processed. Now, it is much nicer, as we enjoy a glass of wine together and discuss hair, at my home
I was getting my hair done using INOA by Loreal. but we recently switched to a higher professional line called Majirel, by LOREAL. These 3 colors are blended together.
(Copper Gold)
(Intense Copper)
(Red Copper)
Shampoos- KENRA and BIOLAGE – both are sulfate-free
Conditioner- BIOLAGE – use a dime’s worth
I will only shampoo and condition my hair every other day using warm water.
Kerastase Oil– for all hair types. I will use one to two pumps on wet shampooed hair. I use more on the ends for added softness.
Kerastase Creme– Heat protectant is the next step. I use a dime-size amount to protect from the hairdryer and curling iron or hot rollers. This product works wonders and I can comb my hair easily after using these products.
Bumble and Bumble- Thickening Spray. I use this spray if I am going out or doing photo shoots. Spray on wet hair for extra volume.
Dry Hair-. I wear my hair in a microfiber towel in the morning and then it is practically dry by the time I go to dry it. I may spend 5-10 minutes drying my hair with a hairdryer.
Hot rollers- I will use these Remington hot rollers and do my makeup while they are curling. These rollers add a lot of curls. If I want a bit less curl but just a soft look, I use my Babyliss curling iron.
With the rollers, I leave them in for about 20 minutes and get major curls! I then, brush out the curls for wave and volume.
How do you style your hair? Do you have a hairstyle that is easy to care for?

Glad you enjoyed reading my post. I really have loved this products and will try perhaps the mousse from Bumble as well. I find both of the lines work quite well!

Posted at 09:19h, 02 SeptemberYou are gorgeous. I love your blog. I struggle with frizzy natural wavy hair. I am 57 years old and struggling with some weight gain. I am new at blogging and affiliate marketing. I live in Asheville. My site is https://nonasdaughter.com
I could use some pointers if you have the time.

Posted at 11:23h, 02 SeptemberHi Annette. Thank you so much! Have you ever tried any Kerestase or Bumble and Bumble products? They have products specifically for wavy hair. My hubby and I love Asheville! I popped by and your blog looks great, very professional!

Posted at 17:31h, 30 AugustYour hair always looks beautiful. I totally agree that it takes more effort to style my hair when it’s short than when it’s long.

Posted at 10:57h, 30 AugustI love your hair color. So pretty! I used to wear my hair short but you are correct. Short hair takes longer to style into place. Longer hair lays more natural and because of the weight, it corrects itself. I have naturally straight hair so I use a flat iron to smooth any lumps and also us the straight iron to create some curls through out.
I Like Dove Shampoo and Conditioner and Loriel Root touch up between salon visits. (or I would be white headed too!).
Have a wonderful weekend.

Posted at 12:11h, 30 AugustHI Lisa!
Thank you! I can see you with short hair. I know that my hair is styled where I am letting it grown in the back all one length as it looks fuller when you have fine hair. I wore hair shorter when I was younger but I think it is easier now. I love naturally straight hair, I have a bit of a wave.I never could master the straight iron! I’ve tried Dove Shampoo and it does smell good! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend too! xx

Posted at 09:47h, 30 AugustGood morning Jess! Your hair is glorious and you are blessed to have such tresses!!! And the color is perfect for you. How often do you have it colored? I’ve been doing mine myself, but am considering having it professionally done, as I think a pro could add more depth as I’m wanting highlights and lowlights in my red hair.

Posted at 10:03h, 30 AugustHi Judy! Morning. Thank you! I could really use having it colored every 4 weeks, but I wait 5 in order to save a bit. I try different products, some of which are introduced by my stylist and really am loving the ones I have posted. The Bumble and Bumble adds thickness and I use it sparingly as it isn’t cheap! Have a nice Labor day weekend! x

Posted at 08:20h, 30 AugustThank you!!!! I’m going to try most of these products as mine is a lot like yours 🙂 including the color. Every time I mention maybe just going grey my hairstylist says I’m still too young at 53, LOL!

Posted at 10:22h, 30 AugustHi Kara, You are welcome, I was happy to write about it. I know what you mean about your hairstylist, maybe she would miss you if she no longer had to color your hair 🙂 I know what you mean though, I am not ready, but there might come a time. I really have tried numerous products over the years, and have found these keep my hair soft. The bumble and bumble is new and I like the additional volume it adds. Happy Labor Day weekend!

Posted at 05:45h, 30 AugustHi Jess! I love reading your posts and your hair is always gorgeous! Can you tell me who makes your eyeglasses? I love them!
Jess Jannenga
Posted at 09:19h, 30 AugustHi Becky! My glasses are by Warby Parker a few years ago. I don’t think they make this style anymore, it is called the Holcombe. Thanks so much! x

Posted at 10:08h, 30 AugustHi Becky
Thanks so much! I love to hear from people and how they enjoy my posts. My glasses are from Warby Parker from a few years ago. They are the Holcombe, but I dont see that they make that style anymore. I wish they did as I would get another pair! 🙂 Happy Labor Day weekend!

Posted at 03:57h, 30 AugustI think your hair always looks beautiful. If you were to let it go white naturally it would also look lovely. You have a wonderful example of grey/white beautiful long hair in Emily Lou Harris. Either way thanks for your blog – I follow with interest from the UK

Posted at 10:10h, 30 AugustHi Kathy!
Good to hear from you! I imagine there will come a time where I get tired of getting my hair done, for now I will stick with it. I say, never say never with hair and the possibilty of going white/grey.I am going to look up Emmy Lou Harris! I know who she is, but haven’t seen a pic in awhile. Have a wonderful weekend!

Posted at 03:11h, 30 AugustHi Jess, I colour my hair and like you would probably be really grey now! I’m not letting it go or getting it cut for a long while. I have always wanted curly hair as mine is poker straight, having spent loads on curling tongs, irons and heated rollers where i get a small wave for a bit! Lol, never happy with our lot! x Jacqui Mummabstylish

Posted at 10:11h, 30 AugustI can relate Jacqui! My hair has some wave, so if i let it totally air dry it comes out funky! I know what you mean, although I will take rollers over the 80s perms I used to have! I love your hair color, very flattering on you! x
