Off The Shoulder Floral Top – A Subtle Patriotic Look

Hello friends

Well before I’m sweating “putty balls” ( my mom’s saying! still don’t know what it means 😉 ) I decided to wear my favorite jeans with one of my favorite off the shoulder floral tops. In the summer, I will mostly wear dresses, denim white shorts and my jean skirt, but from time to time, if we are going to be inside, whether it’s for a casual dinner or at the movies, I may wear jeans.  Places here tend to crank the air conditioning in the summer. Not going for a full blown obvious red white and blue look, I opted for subtly with the top in navy , white,  and red within the floral design.

If you follow the blog, you have probably realized, I like bold and colorful floral prints. This gorgeous print, from Zara, a few years ago.

What I try and look for in off the shoulder tops, are ones that can be worn both ways- on and off the shoulder, for more versatility. The main think I look for is the length of the top as well. I need length!

I know this is not “screaming HAPPY 4th of JULY”, but there is red, white and blue flowers, and I am wearing denim which is very Americana! I have a white bag, and my navy blue floral earrings are the perfect accent. It may not be classic 4th of July, but realize  that you don’t have to wear stars and stripes to show your patriotism.

This was shot by our pool and the weather here has been more than pool-friendly! I’ll probably take a dip this week and get out my Giant Flamingo raft! You know the one that is wide enough for 2 adults and was all over instagram last year?  I figured why not! i may have to go when there are less people, as it takes up just a wee bit of space! …and look, red and white pool chairs and umbrellas … see?

If the weather is too warm, i may substitute the jeans for a pair of blue jean shorts or my white denim shorts. A pair of linen pants would look lovely with this top as well, and keep you cool!

See the red, white and blue flowers and colors?

Do you wear off the shoulder tops? Do you prefer a more subtle look for the 4th of July or do you dress in red, white and blue?

It’s so warm here too Jess! No air conditioning here in England because it doesn’t usually last too long. I love your pretty floral top and that necklace is just perfect with it!! xx

Yes, you look, well, elegantly dressed and stylish, Jess! That is a great top, and looks fab off the shoulders. I dress similarly in the summer – saving jeans for the movies or a cold restaurant. Have a good week, xox

That top is incredible Jess!!! I wore jeans the other day, and I didn’t realize how hot they could be when it’s 100 degrees out…LOL!! But heck, you go inside and freeze!!

Thank you Jodie! Yes, I would wear this to the theatre, or places that I know are going to have air conditioning on full blast. Outside in the summer, it can be too warm for jeans,. depending on the humidity. xx

Oh Jess, I really love this! So elegant! I prefer a more subtle nod to dressing for the holiday too (although you’d never know that given my recent posts). I keep eyeing those giant flamingo rafts – I would love one! I’ve been trying to swim several times a week, it’s been so hot it feels good!
    Happy Monday sweet friend!

Morning Kellyann! I think for me, I like red and white or blue and white not so much the 3 together… But this top has the colors and I thought it would be fun to wear. It sounds good that you are swimming, youhave a nice pool. I am looking for the less busy times for our HOA pool, and I have dumb bells you can use in the pool too. Happy Monday to you! xx

Jess, that floral top is gorgeous! I’m totally in love with the print, and it looks great with the jeans. I know what you mean about air conditioning – sometimes it’s super hot outdoors but too cold indoors!

Thank you Suzy! I love the print too, and will wear it with shorts as well. Yes, I still have to carry a jacket to the theatre. xx
