04 Oct Olive Green Handbag as a Neutral-My new Teddy Blake Bag Styled with Denim
Green bags, especially olive, can be very versatile in your handbag collection. Teddy Blake gifted me this beautiful GiGI leather satchel and I am sharing how I style it this week on the blog.
Olive Green Bag- Teddy Blake
We most often gravitate toward black, cognac, and variations of tan when it comes it day to day bags. I did consider getting a cognac bag from Teddy Blake, but my eyes gravitated toward this luscious, warm olive green.
“Color Meaning: Meaning of The Color Green. Green, the color of life, renewal, nature, and energy, is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, freshness, safety, fertility, and environment . ”
Of course, I love this and to me, nature has always been my most peaceful place, so it has special meaning.
Now, in terms of your wardrobe, olive green works as a “color neutral”. So, where we often think of black, white, grey, brown as neutrals, olive green has warm tones that will work with every color. This olive is a brownish green, where you might find pine green to have more of a black cast to it.
Kelly green or a bright green is cooler, so depending on your wardrobe, if you wear cooler tones, you might enjoy wearing this shade of bag.
I’ve collaborated with Teddy Blake before, and if you missed the post, have a read- Turning Heads Linkup- Teddy Blake New York Handbags- The Ava – Elegantly Dressed and Stylish – Fashion Over 50
Teddy Blake New York makes leather handbags from Italy, at more affordable prices for a luxury item. This particular bag is the GIGI Stampatto Gold 13″.
Read more about them here.
Satchels always appeal to me for sure, the elegance and structured look is something i love. The gold hardware is beautiful and there is one compartment inside the bag plus a zipper. The interior is suede. I need to get myself one of those purse organizers to keep the interior clean and switch my bags out!
It does come with a leather strap in case you don’t want to carry a bag all day when out and about.
I have a fair amount of greens and warm Fall tones in my closet, so I thought this olive bag would be the perfect choice. It will get alot of wear, being a neutral.
Moving on to the Outfit
I certainly could have chosen any color to style with my bag, as I mentioned, but I had olive green on my mind.
The suede moto and floral scarf paired nicely, as there are bits of black, olive, yellow, red and lilac in the print and the scarf breaks up some of the olive in the look.
I’ve styled my high rise Mott and Bow skinny jeans with my croc black boots. Under the jacket I am wearing a black silk cami if I want to leave the jacket open. The addition of accessories- bag, scarf really make the impact with the look.
What’s Happening?
Well, I apologize for not being able to post on Friday. I actually had an injury and am recovering. This is where I start to “feel” like an ole lady! 5 bags of mulch were to go out to the garden. I laid down 4 and with the 5th, I bent over to open the bag, ( not bending my knees) only to pull/strain my back and hip muscle. ouch. So, it’s been all about icing, using heat, resting and stretching. Feeling better today, but took about a week.
Do you have a green bag? Or do you stick with the traditional black, brown, grey, cognac as neutrals?
This bag was gifted to me by Teddy Blake. All opinions are mine and truthful.

Posted at 16:03h, 08 OctoberHello Jess,
I love olive and one of my favorite combinations is to add tomato for a pop. Yet your scarf with the lavender look gorgeous. Browns and yellow tones work nicely too. Your bag is such a statement too Im sure you will enjoy it.

Posted at 12:37h, 05 OctoberHi Jess,
What an elegant bag and scarf! I’m using an olive green bag right now. I love olive green but I look better in cooler colors so I try to incorporate olive in pieces that I wear away from my face (handbags, shoes or bottoms). xo Nipa

Posted at 06:56h, 05 OctoberI do not have a green bag but I may have to rethink that. I have been drawn to neutral bags the past year and only kept two of my colored ones as I wear my neutrals more but olive is a neutral and would work so well with my wardrobe. I love this moto jacket: it is gorgeous!

Posted at 11:32h, 04 OctoberI don’t think I’ve ever seen an olive leather bag. Beautiful! As is your entire outfit.
I hear you on feeling your age. I’m 57, and sometimes it seems like it takes very little to rile up my joints and muscles. I’m glad you are feeling better. A hip muscle strain is so painful.

Posted at 11:50h, 04 OctoberThank you Michelle! It just caught my eye and has more of a brownish undertone than like a pine green ( black). Some things! Yes, I didn’t us proper body mechanics or form for getting out the mulch, but gosh! Still not back to 100% so, it will take more healing, but better than I was.
