Turning Heads Linkup-Pantone’s Color of the Year Transitional Colors

Hi Friends- Hope you like the new blog layout! I wrote about it yesterday and am happy with how it turned out. I needed something new and fresh! The snow is gone, and the temps here in Charlotte, have increased to nearly mid 60s  by weekend. It is usually this time of year that I start to get a hankering for spring clothes. The weather here is so duplicitous! Besides looking at spring clothes on-line, I must admit, I am a bit of a True Crime junkie. Homicide Hunter, Joe Kenda, well “my, my my!” Yes, when the weather is just too darn cold and I have done my exercise for the day, sometimes I just want to watch some Discovery ID. I just get fascinated with stories of obsession, lust, greed, and family feuds. I used to think I would have loved to have studied criminology but then again I am not always the most detailed person, don’t like the sight of blood, stress is something I avoid.. etc. Anyone else like true crime? ( I am not talking about the “Fashion Police here :-))

As I mentioned last week, I am shopping my closet for the next 2 months, as I am finding it fun to experiement with my existing winter closet. but am “window shopping” on-line looking at spring dresses and more casual pieces to add to my closet.  Although I am not buying spring dresses right now, I start looking at what colors are going to be in stores for Spring 2017, so I look to the Pantone Institute and Pantone’s Color of the Year, along with its transitional colors and palettes that will coordinate.

The color of the year for 2017 is Greenery, a vibrant bright green that reminds me of fresh-cut new grass, and lustrous foliage in spring gardens. It’s actually the bright green shade in the little flowers on my shoes!  According to Pantone: “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.

Today I have put together Pantone’s Twilight Purple and Treetop shades to create a look of jewel tones and richness in color. I added a print with my floral ASOS Jacquard block heels that corresponded so well. In addition to create more visual interest, I added grey lace patterned tights. My light grey Rebecca Minkoff Love bag fit well with this look, deemed by Pantone as “Nimbus Cloud”. It was quite funny how it all came together, as I shopped my closet and put all of the pieces together before I researched the Pantone Colors.

If you are interested in learning what colors will be in stores for spring, check out the Pantone Institute’s Color Pairings 2017 and you may be surprised what you already have in your existing closet. Have fun! Who doesn’t need some color this time of year?

Outfit details: Sweater: Cashmere Bluefly, Sweater Dress: Banana Republic, Jacquard shoes: ASOS, Rebecca Minkoff: Love Handbag

So now its time to have a glass of vino, or hot cocoa, coffee ( your beverage of choice) and enjoy the Turning Heads Linkup! Please comment on 2 posts per blogger. Its fun to check out the winter fashions!

I only watch true crime shows!! All my books are non fiction, on serial killers, their psyche and methodologies. In fact, at one point in my life, I wanted to be a Criminal Psychologist, a profiler, if you will, but at that time, I couldn’t find a course offered that was within my family’s budget so that got shelved 🙂 on a less macabre note, the colours you’ve put together in this outfit are spectacular, Jess. Rich and luxe.

Thank you about the outfit Sheila! I do love jewel tones. Wow, Cool. I am actually addicted to Discovery ID and these types of shows. I just find it fascinating! I never knew that about you. So who have you written about? Love to read one of your books. Ii guess I always wonder why people do these things and what is the story behind it. Two of my favs are Joe Kenda and Swamp Murders ( the ones that are better acted!)

Jess, this is a beautiful jewel tone combination. The green and purple make me think jungle and warmth. Ha, ha. You know, tropical rainforest, beautiful flowers. Yup, that is what I thought of when I saw this pretty combo. You look fantastic. I love purple and any green looks lovely on you! Isn’t it fun to shop your closet. That is what I do most of the time, but once in a while I will got out and purchase something specifically for a look. It seems quite satisfying to be able to come up with outfits from what we already have. As always thanks for hosting the link up. – Amy

When I read the title I was wondering where “Greenery” was going to appear….
I was delighted to see it peeping out in your pretty floral shoes.
AND patterned tights!! Jess, you are a lady on my wavelength.
    Beautiful.

You are right about the pairings on the pantone site we can all make something work from their suggestions….so much inspiration.
I have been scouring the local charity shops and online for some “new” colours. Green was lacking in my wardrobe and I now have a few pieces to enjoy wearing into the Spring and Summer.
