Plum Floral

TGIF!

Today I am wearing a new floral dress by Asos, but have done yet another conversion and added this plum dolman sleeved sweater on top, to create a sweater/floral skirt look

It was a day where I wanted a print. Purple was on my mind. I am trying to add more lavendar like colors and blue hues into the spring wardrobe, but in the meantime, I bought this sweater years ago, as I liked the cable knit design at the bottom, and the dolman sleeves. The color appealed to me as well. Underneath is a form fitting pencil dress by Asos that I am excited to reveal, but as I was styling the copper/pumpkin pieces the other day, I decided that the tones in the dress really worked well with the sweater.

I think there are somethings that one wants to keep in mind when going from a spring-fall outfit to winter. I would try to keep the fabrics close to what is indicative of the season. A winter heavier sweater would not pair as well with a light chiffon skirt. ( IMO). So, I suppose I like to keep the materials close to each other, as this is not a thin dress, but rather a stretchy scuba type material that works well with the medium knit. I look forward to “unvieling” the dress in the warmer weather.

Have a great Day!

Jess xo

That sweater is lovely. Just like you I’m attracted to both the sleeves and the bottom finish. Curious to see your dress “reveleaded”!

I love this floral print for the winter. The colours are perfectly moody but the print keeps it fun and interesting! I’ve been loving mixing it up with dresses as tops and skirts lately too – such a great way to get the extra mile out of what you already own!

I LOVE the idea of layering a sweater over q dress it gives such a clean streamlined look. And what a great find from ASOS! I’ve never seen a sweater with that type of edge!

    Jess,
this is a great look, and I agree, it is smart and clever to add a medium weight sweater, and what an excellent choice with this cable beauty, in a pale plum color. Love the sparkle at your ears, and the ruffled bag, too. A perfect ensemble. I am looking forward to seeing the dress by itself, of course!

This is a fabulous outfit, Jess! As you pointed out in your post, this plum-colored Dolman sweater makes a great seasonal transition piece — whether it be worn late in the Winter/early Spring or during the Fall… How do you feel about the ‘maxi’ skirt? I can picture your sweater with some sort of pastel-colored, long skirt (lilac may be too much like plum, but a rosy pink or even mint green would be nice) and a ‘kicky’ neutral suede D’Orsay style flat to finish the look… This concept in my head is what I envision for that ‘casual night out’ in April or May, when it can still get quite chilly after dark — I look forward to seeing your Spring outfits… Have a great weekend!

I love your look! That sweater looks like it was made to go with that floral. But I might disagree with keeping the materials close to the season. I love the whole idea of contrasting and I think it can look interesting (kind of like whe you do lace & leather)! Jodie
