I do really like purple. I think between purple and blue are the two colors I could use more of in my closet. I love love love, lavendar, the color, the flowers, the smell of it as essential oil in my bath. Deep purple is also a favorite, the jewel tone that is so rich, it looks so lovely. So when I brought this dress out of my closet, I saw those colors, as well as fuschia, which is a color that is sprouting up in spring fashion as well. This isn’t a wrap dress, a style of dress I like, but rather a stretchy dress with rusching on the side to give attention to the waist. This is something I do, as this an area I do try to accent or draw attention to.  I do have a great tailor who can take in clothes very well, so I have been there a couple of times ( wink, wink). The dress is so comfortable, and I like that you can wear it with the dress down to show your shoulders, and that it is a nice length. I decided to wear it with my favorite gladiator sandals you may see more and more of in the summer. Sofft, my favorite Swedish brand for shoes, are great as they have cushion and stability, as well as style. No orthotic looking shoes for me! Remember those MBT? ( apologies to anyone that wears them and likes them). I am carrying my Brahmin bag, you didn’t know that crocodiles come in a lavender/blue hue? This color I just loved and I do like handbags. My husband, I think wishes I went back to shoes!  Lastly, I was on the hunt awhile ago for a purple vintage necklace. I found this on one of my 3 favorite jewelry haunts, and it had a latch on the back so it can be worn as a brooch. They have some of the neatest vintage jewelry I have seen and really good deals. Why have I never seen my grandmas jewelry? I bet she had great taste.

Dress: Ann Taylor: last year, Sofft sandals, Brahmin Bag, necklace: Etsy

Have a great day!

Thanks so much. It is a favorite, once I started to get into purples. The bag was a great find on Ebay. I love structured bags, as one may notice on my blog. I have a couple of hobo bags, but prefer structure. Thanks again 🙂

Hi Jess. I saw your comment on the Privilege blog so I hopped to your blog. Love the dress and how you styled it. Off the shoulder makes it sexy, the jewelry and bag makes it ladylike, the sandals make casual.
I am not one for dresses or for pink but this one has a small print and a white/cream background so I think I could wear it. I have two “events’ coming up so thanks for the ideas!

I wondered if you had ever seen the website “Not dressed as lamb” – another over 40 fashion blog. I think she is British? She has red hair and a very interesting way of putting things together.

I am not trying to compare you two. I just thought you might have seen it.

HI Maggie. Thanks for the comments. I liked this dress when I saw it as I have a small waist, and wanted to accentuate, so this dress does that. I also like the different colors of purple and pinks. Believe me, I would have been the first to pick out a sexy heel with this but I can not wear stilletos or heels for that matter, as I have a muscular disease that doesn’t permit. These gladiators have enough support and look more dressy than just a regular sandal. I do miss my heels sometimes! Thank you, and this dress is not in the store now, but there are those like it, try Ann Taylor. Yes , I am familiar with “Not Dressed as Lamb”, Catherine is British, and was helpful to me in starting my blog too. Drop by anytime.

Thank you. I liked the purple and pinks, and thought the bluish purple bag kind o brought out the colors. I appreciate the comment! Have a good Sunday!

Now this is a beautiful spring look, Jess and you are such a gorgeous woman!
I love everything wrapped and draped as it is so figure flattering. You prove that pink and purple are fabulous colours for redheads!
I actually think you look stunning in all colours and wonder if there is a colour that doesn’t suit you?

    Hugs,

Aww. Thank you Annette. Such kind words. The dress is very comfy. I can wear it off the shoulders or not. I have a orchid colored cardigan that goes perectly with it, that I would wear if it were chillier. I know you like wrap dresses, and although it isn’t a wrapped dress, it still flatters the waist. I am sure there are colors that aren’t great for my skin tone, not sure about yellow… 🙂 xo jess

Thanks very much Pam. I think what I liked most about this dress, besides the color, is that the rusching on the side helps to accentuate the waist, the smallest part. It is also very comfy and soft.
I appreciate the comment Pam. Have a good weekend!

Jess, I adore this floral dress on you. The colors are perfect, and such a lovely compliment to that gorgeous mane of hair. I love these shades too, and the blue accent of the Brahmin bag is just perfect. You are looking gorgeous and happy!

    Hi Monika,
Thank you so much. I liked it because of the purple, but also because it accentuates my waist, the smallest part. I know you like blue bags, as I like ones you have posted, this was so pretty as it looks blueish with purple hue. Take care, jess
