Rockport-What to Wear to a Holiday Show

img_5788

Hello friends!

Hard to believe it is one more week until Christmas! I will be visiting my mom in Pittsburgh, so will be taking off a bit of time from the blog to celebrate the Holidays. I was contacted by Rockport to do a dressy shoot for the Holidays and was happy to feature a pair of their dress shoes. In this case, the Total Motion Charis Pump in Wine Mamba Snake.

Drawing near to Christmas, I enjoy playing Holiday music that evokes childhood memories, and some that bring on more recent memories. If you didn’t know, I graduated in Jazz Guitar, from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and have a love for swing music in particular. When it comes to the Holidays, I find myself wanting to listen to Big Band, as well as some classic tunes by Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, Johnny Mathis.

More recently, several years ago, my husband and I saw Brian Setzer here in Charlotte, perform a Christmas show ,and play music from one of his Holiday albums. He plays a Gretch guitar and his style of swing had me dancing in my seat, and later, sharing some of my  dance moves without a care. Music transports you, takes you back to childhood days, or other fond memories. I love “White Christmas” and “Christmas Time is Here”, as they remind me of just a joy for the Holidays, excitement for the Season and the Spirit of Giving.

Just as I love Holiday music, I love to dress up if I am going to a Holiday Concert. When Rockport contacted me to do a dressy look for the Holidays, incorporating a dressier style shoe, I was all in! When I was perusing their site, looking for booties for my last Rockport post, I came across these wine-colored snakeskin patterned block heels. As I have collaborated with them in the past, I knew their Total Motion line was very cushioned and comfortable, as well as stylish.

I chose this pair of shoes to style with my black chiffon White House Black Market sleeveless dress, a black metal unique  statement necklace with sparkly jewels, some similar gold shimmery earrings, and this dressy  clutch for the evening out at “The Magic of Christmas” in Charlotte. We went into Uptown just a bit earlier to take pictures, and would after attend the show. I was deciding between clutches, and eventually wore the golden boxed clutch.  I wore my burgundy velvet blazer into the show as well for a more festive look.

Just like the booties, these pumps are as comfortable as my Asic’s sneakers! The cushioned total motion insole is like “pillows for your feet”, and who wouldn’t want that? The color is very popular and will go with much in my fall/winter wardrobe. I loved the texture and the shimmer of these shoes and thought the perfect compliment for my dressy look for the Show, which features choral groups, jazz trios, soprano singers and group sing-alongs.

These pumps, t are going to be so versatile, one could wear them to work, with jeans, a dress, virtually anything in their wardrobe. The thicker block heel also makes then easy to walk in, especially if one needs to walk some blocks to get to their Holiday event in town. I also love the snake texture and of course color. If you need dressy shoes that are as comfortable as sneakers, these are it!

I loved this filagree necklace by Ann Taylor with sparkly stones.

Jess, those shoes are so cute! i love the way you dressed them up. Your whole outfit is to festive and elegant. I love the velvet blazer and the dress is very pretty. That necklace makes the perfect addition to the outfit. You look amazing. Hope you had a wonderful time. I think it is so cool that you are a jazz guitarist. I’d love to hear you play. I taught myself basic chords and used to play with another girlfriend in our church youth group when we were in junior high and high school. What great memories. I love all the Christmas music too! What a fun time of year. Have a great day. – Amy
