Soft Surroundings Linen Blazer and Leather Slides- Two Trends for Spring

Sometimes trends can be classic. They don’t have to be something you only wear for a year and then get rid of . Case in point- these two pieces from Soft Surroundings I have styled today can be worn each Spring-Summer with style!

My Outfit

I’ve noticed this is the third year that linen is in the stores and showing its popularity. I mentioned last year, how I used to stay away from linen due to the “wrinkle factor”, but now I consider that just part of its charm or character. If you aren’t bothered by it wrinkling, there are many choices for you this season. I have been obsessing over linen pieces for awhile now! The weather in NC is inching up to the mid-80s this week, so the heat is on! Linen is one of those fabrics that will keep you cool and fashionable!

I love the look of the boyfriend linen blazer and paper-bag waist shorts, a kind of Spring -Summer polished suit. Now, I don’t have the shorts yet, but I am looking around! Instead, I took the oversized taupe linen blazer and styled it with a pair of medium wash skinny jeans. Proportion is important here, as, if the top portion is oversized or more voluminous, the bottom portion should be streamlined, or skinny for balance.

The linen blazer here has one button, with detailed buttons on the sleeve. I love the angled pockets, as it visually narrows the hip area. I wore a rust-colored tank underneath, and my jeans are from Old Navy.”Tailored with slimming, forward princess-style seams, back vent, chest and vertical pockets and one large button closure. Interior seams are finished with striped binding like fine menswear. Misses 31-1/2″ long,” Soft Surroundings. I am wearing an XS, as I do with all of Soft Surroundings pieces ( size 2-4) and it is roomy/comfortable.  It is 55% linen, 45% rayon.

I chose these braided circled leather slides in cognac, as they are also a great shoe you can wear all summer long. Who wants to wear socks when you can slide your feet into this easy-going style. With European sizing, I wear a 38 or 8. I am due for a gel pedicure, they usually last 3 months.. Any color suggestions? 🙂

Accessories

My accessories are all emulating each other! Have a look at the circled leather slides, then I added my round rattan bag. I then chose these adorable round rattan earrings with a touch of leopard print. See how the earrings tie in with my scarf and bag?  I will either choose to wear a light necklace, ( like the one you see in this post about AUrate- Sustainable Affordable Jewelry) or a neck scarf, as the weather gets warmer. I love the addition of print with the scarf and texture with the bag, which helps a neutral outfit look more interesting!

new pedicure is in order.. love the braided leather.

This snakeskin-embossed leather copper cuff caught my eye, as I knew it would go perfectly and have much to match in my closet. I love how it sparkles in the sun and goes quite well with my Obaka watch.

I must be admiring my new shoes here 😉

Are you a fan of linen? What might you choose from the  Pre-Summer Soft Surroundings collection?

Such a nice blazer. I’m happy that the linen is still a thing, because it is real life saver here, in Singapore. Thank you for sharing this post with My Red Carpet.

This is a fabulous Spring outfit and the linen blazer can definitely be worn through the hot days of Summer! I wasn’t also a fan of linen but have been slowly gravitating towards them. Not only is it so soft to the skin or touch but it really is comfortable. You can’t beat that!

      Hi Robin!
Thank you! I just loved the shoes and have been wanting a pair of cognac slides. They are so easy to wear in the summer. I think it may be 80+ from now on. Waiting for the pool to be finished. Linen is a timeless fabric and I used to be turned off by it, but now I really love the cool factor ! xx

I have not purchased linen in years but have grabbed 2 pieces already this spring! I also grabbed a round rattan bag and have been shocked at how much I’ve loved carrying it! Happy Monday Jess! Hope you have a super week.

That’s a gorgeous outfit, the bag is stunning as I’ve said before. I love linen and it’s a love I’ve only found recently, it does wrinkle a lot but I can deal with it, it ends up being so comfortable and breezy I can’t help but forget about the wrinkles haha and for your pedicure you should go for coral, the colour of the year, it’s perfect for spring.

Thank you Marta! I love linen too and am over the wrinkle factor, it is only fabrics that aren’t supposed to wrinkle that drive me nuts! Glad you like the outfit. Thank you for the pedicure suggestion, I may just do that! Coral is such a great color 🙂 xx

I do LOVE linen in the warmer weather. I used to hate the fact about it wrinkling, but now I’m trying to embrace wrinkles. Both on my clothing AND on my face…LOL!!

That linen blazer is so pretty on you! Linen is such a classic and I really do adore it even though I get frustrated with the wrinkling sometimes. I cold see that blazer styled with wide leg cropped trousers too and of course that rattan bag of yours. Soft Surroundings has some beautiful pieces for sure. That cuff is the perfect accessory!
I’m do for a pedicure – I have to go monthly – my nails grow so fast!

I am the opposite, it takes my nails forever to grow, so now its time. I have gone a bit linen happy this year as i was thrilled as how cool it kept me last summer. I like your idea:-) I love the striped blazer you have! xx

I love every element of this outfit on you!! From one redhead to another (though not as bright red as yours) what color lipstick are you wearing with this outfit; I seem to wear the same shade all the time (boring) for fear of looking like the Joker.

Hello Paula! Thank you! I have bought several linen pieces and am really loving them for the warmer weather. I am wearing Satin Mocha by Mac, is is a year old, so I don’t know if they have it anymore. It is a dark peachy color with brown undertones. Glad you like it! xx
