18 Jun Summer Fashion Trends 2021
I always like to keep abreast of what the trends are, and this Summer 2021 has some hits and misses for me.
Hello friends,
I hope you had a great week. My hubby is out of town dealing with some family health problems, and I stayed home to watch the pups/house. I have been working in the garden, working out, getting ready for our vacation July 2nd, and was able to go out with my sister and niece for a lunch on the Lake ( fish tacos and Chardonnay).
My friend and PT therapist who has dry needled me for 8 years, every 2 weeks, is moving to the mountains and I will miss her! I was able to pop into Home Goods for a few gifts. My shoulder has been in intense muscle pain, but I was able to set up an appt for trigger point injections next week, which I hope will help before we travel.
Now, on to the Fashion!
Shirred tops and dresses
are certainly big this year. I wrote about this 70’s influence on this post-Shirred Gingham Top- Bringing Back the 70s
I have several tops I bought this year and I love that the shirring is fitted but not constricting.
My last post- Lemon top and White Skirt has a top with a shirred back, making it extra comfortable as well.
You have to remember the shirred tube top as a kid? right?
Flowy Midi and Maxi dresses-
I am a dress girl all the way, especially in the heat of the summer months. Dresses are airy, provide comfort and flow away from the body.
( at least the ones I choose for Summer in the South!) Fabrics such as cotton or linen are certainly my picks, and the midi or maxi dress looks great on without too much exposure.
The shirred bodice with a longer length is quite popular, as is the flowy- looser fitting Boho styles shown this season.
Braided Heels and Slides
Last year it was the quilted look for sandals and slides, this year the braided leather styles are taking center stage. You can choose your heel height, or a more conservative height for ease of wear. The slides are an easy shoe to wear and look great with the added texture of the braided style. These braided slides come in a multitude of colors and are under $40!
Tiered Dresses
Tiered dresses are popu;ar this season, in a babydoll style, or a longer midi/maxi length. I am loving the tiered styles that show colorblocking and just give that does of vibrant color that is fun to wear in the hot summer months.
High Waisted 90’s style Jean Shorts and Denim
Jean shorts are always quite trendy in the summer, and many stores are showing longer lengths as well as a higher rise .
Jeans in light washes are showing with a 90’s straight leg and higher rise as well.
Heeled Flip Flops
This trend isn’t really for me, but if you like flip flops but want to give them that extra omph… try leather flip flops with a small heel.
The only time I wear flip flops are to the beach, and even then, I am not crazy about things between my toes.
Cut Out Styles
Dresses and tops in cut out styles are popular this summer, and show a bit of skin . I could do a cut out at the neckline, for a unique design, but am not drawn to the cut outs at the stomach , hips etc.
Lilac
I love this beautiful, light, soft pastel shade for Spring and Summer. It has been quite popular over the past 2 seasons!

Posted at 08:05h, 23 JuneFun post, Jess! I am totally loving the braided sandals trend right now, too! I bought 7 pairs of them! I am with you on thonged sandals though, I don’t like the thing between my toes either. And putting a heel on shoes like that is the worst idea ever! All it does is jam the thing harder between your toes. I hope you have an amazing trip, my friend!

Posted at 00:10h, 21 JuneI bought a shirred blouse two years ago and I just love this style! Dresses are so cool and easy to wear in the summer. I’m lovin’ lilac, always have even though I only have a few lilac things: a maxi skirt and a few tops. Sorry to hear about your hubby’s family heath problems and I do hope you feel better Jess!
Blessings!

Posted at 04:57h, 18 JuneI have been eyeing lots of braided sandals but so far I have not found a pair that works for me. Fish tacos and chardonnay sound like the perfect lunch to me! Have a great weekend and I hope your hubby makes it back soon!
