31 May Things to Do in June
Happy Friday Friends!
I’ve just got home last night from the trip visiting family and enjoying the Memorial Day holiday. Mom has come back with us, and we will be planning some fun things to do to share our love for Lake Norman and Charlotte. As Summertime approaches, I’ve been thinking about things to do and make in June.
I’m not feeling well, as I think my entire body is one big knot. I probably have knots on my knots. With EDS, much of the long car trips are very hard on my body, and I end of exhausted, needing a few days recuperation and dry needling when I return. I don’t have it scheduled until the 3rd, so I will just have to take it easy when I get home. We had a great time visiting the in-laws, celebrating big time as my father in-law turned 90! We got giant numbered balloons we hid in the back seat and used a blanket to weigh them down until we got to the restaurant. We didn’t tell my in-laws where we were taking them, so both were a surprise! Eddie V’s, where I took my hubby, in Charlotte, was also in PA, and we thoroughly enjoyed the extensive seafood list and ambiance.
Good news on Truffles, my pup! She was like a different pup with the Silio medicine and low xanax dose. She laid in the back, looked a little spacey at times, but also looked calm and not anxious. We really enjoyed the car ride more this trip!
Things to do in June
The Symphony Pops
One of my most favorite summertime songs, is yes, quite OBVIOUS. “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess, is that song. I love the bluesy melody. When you think of the approaching season, what tunes come to mind at the start? Lots of summer concerts come our way, and we hope to see some in addition to the Charlotte Symphony Pops, when they play at the Ampitheatre in south Charlotte.

Great Vineyards in NC
I am not a wine snob, but do think of myself as a wine lover. I enjoy learning about the areas best for cultivating and growing grapes and producing wines and always find the history and learning about varietals quite interesting. In the summer, my hubby and I , this year, along with my mom, will be visiting some different Vineyards in the area. Despite being in the South, more wines are cultivated beyond Moscatos and Scuppernog. I am not a sweet wine girl but love the dry, fruit forward flavors. We will be showing mom around Daveste Vineyards, a loval vineyard 30 min North of Lake Norman, where we live. There are so many good ones near us, over 100, you will be sure to find one you love.
Nothing like hanging out with the pups, with our canopy, chairs, picnic and enjoying music and wine at the Vineyards.
Fruit Markets
There is nothing like this time of year. I am a fruit fanatic and love most. Favrotes are seedless watermelon ice cold in the fridge! ( Hubby has an allergy, so I don’t have to share 😉 peaches, juicy cantelope, strawberries. We have a few fruit stands we visit and my hubby has gotten me loving tomato sandwiches. ( Sooo good) Just some good bread, mayo and excellent red tomatoes.
The Beach.
One thing I love about where we live is that we are about 2 hours away from the Blue Ridge Parkway and mountains of Asheville. Other beautiful mountain areas include Grandfather Mountain and Stone Mountain in NC. The Beach is where we head, often in the summertime and Kiawah Island near Charleston is one of our favorites. This year, we are headed with the pups to the Outer Banks! When I saw on TV a week ago that the Great White Sharks ( about 5 of them) were in the Outer Banks, I pictured my mom yelling at the tv, ” Jess, don’t go to the Outer Banks! ” however, scientist believe they have already migrated North, so they will be long gone when we arrive! I like to go out with my boogie board and jump the waves, my hubby calls walking in “up to his knees” going in the ocean! To me, that doesn’t count! We are heading to a B n B in the Outerbanks area this July that is dog-friendly!
Its that time of year for an event called the Taste of Charlotte. Check out your city for similar events, as there are wine tents
Summertime Drinks-
We’ll I may be a bit ambitious or overzealous, as this video on making homemade Lemoncello seems to be, but if you love the flavor you can pick up a bottle at the store. Because another thing I don’t have on hand is grain alcohol. But if you haven’t tried lemoncello, you need to, its soooo good! Visit my Pinterest Page under recipes and check out the cocktails and drinks section.
I’ll share with you a little easier recipe for a summer cocktail. These summer Sangria recipes are refreshing and fruity for summer.
Elton John Movie- Rocket Man
Will be seeing this soon, can’t wait!
Reading-
I heard it on the blogosphere Grapevine. This book, Daisy Jones and the Six was a great book to read, relating to the relationship of members of the band, Fleetwood Mac. I’ve seen, The Dirt, a Netflix movie about the raucous 80’s rock band Motel Crue and thought it would be more entertaining. I’ll be reading it by the pool, which opened May 18th here..
The Pool
Our pool is open and I am ready to dive in. I’ve got to see what the quietest time is to be there and bring my book and pool weights. Swimming is great for anyone, chronic pain or not. Don’t forget your sunscreen! My neice will be here and I have a giant flamingo float she can use.
Pool Weights– I purchased a treadmill this year complete with iFit, and love it, but when the weather is nice, I like to be outside. I’l ltake the pups for walks, walk on our nature trail, and work out in the pool. I’ve got these weights for upper body workouts. The resistance is great and its less jarring on the body!
Barbells I just bought this year. Working that upper body in the pool is so much better!
Have a great weekend ! Welcome June!

Posted at 10:56h, 31 MayJess: How do YOU feel about denim on denim? For example, white denim jacket with white denim jeans. Some fashionistas say they would never do it, however I have seen it done on Pinterest (though not a lot).
If you have done a blog on this before just direct me to it. Thx.
