THT-Effortless Elegance: Embrace the A-Line Linen Skirt

This linen a-line skirt has been worn often already in these hot summer months.

Embrace the A-line Linen Skirt

Excuse the bra strap in every picture! Don’t you love that when you take all the pictures and then don’t notice until your done? Or processing the pics?

I could certainly wear a strapless bra with this outfit if need be.

The balance of this look is key. I love a more fitted top with an a-line skirt. This linen skirt has volume and swishability! ( I just made that up!) Because of the A-line shape, the slimmer, cropped top works here. It is slightly higher-waisted, so remember, with THIS POST . I talked about wearing a more cropped top with higher waisted garments HERE as well.

Now, this is wear a bodysuit or just more fitted top would be the perfect mix with the A-line linen skirt.

By now, you have noted how crazy I went for linen this year. It is a must for a Southern wardrobe, as it has been quite hot and humid here as of late.

The A-line skirt is great for figures that are hourglass, but also if you want to accentuate the waist or hide the hips or larger bottom. The shape is flattering and can easily be dressed up or down, but because of the shape, has a feminine quality to it as well.

I love a lighter, flowier look with an a-line skirt, as there is no bulkiness to it, and it certainly can be adjusted for height. Since I am 5 foot 9, this skirt is nearly maxi on me, so obviously, if you are shorter in stature or petite, you want to make sure you look for that when buying.

It has a bit of a retro vibe, and was first brought on to the fashion scene by fashion designer Christian Dior in 1955. Though popular in the ’60s and ’70s, this skirt would disappear from the fashion world. Later in the 2000, it was brought back, fortunately, as it is quite a popular style. Yes, the key is choosing tops wisely, as I mentioned, more fitted tops, as a too large of a top will make the look more frumpy. No one wants the Frump Factor, do we?

Dressing this look down or in a more casual way is not hard, still keeping with the fitted top and A-line proportions.  A pair of fun fashion sneakers or more casual sandals would work with this look. You could also wear a fun graphic tee with this tucked in.

are you a fan of the A-line Skirt?

On another note, attendance at the link up last week was quite low, and I am just wondering if many people are doing link-ups these days, or do you just do most of your commenting and sharing on social media and Instagram? I will debate by the end of Summer whether to keep it going. I know Summer is slower than Fall, just wanted to hear the interest of people regarding link-ups. thanks!

You look so pretty in that skirt! I love the scarf too. I have seen a huge dip in numbers, but I know I haven’t been consistent in joining linkups this summer because I’ve been so busy. I’m sure it will pick up again in fall. I do enjoy catching up with other bloggers this way.

Lovely, elegant summer outfit! The tan clutch and sandals are just perfect with the neutral linen. I’ve found link up attendance low lately, I guess people are on holiday or entertaining kids. I think I forgot to participate in a lot of the link ups I usually visit last week but I’m trying to get back on track now! Sometimes I get more done in terms of linking up and commenting when I’m at work and get some down time…there are fewer interruptions than at home during the holidays!

Those are the kinds of skirts I gravitate towards more now. They are long enough to be comfortable with any sitting, and yet aren’t tight.

What a beautiful skirt, I love the photo where it is kicked up a little. That top really goes nicely with it.

This is a real winner, the color and style of the A line skirt and wrap top are superb on you! I think a lot of people have been on vacation, that’s why attendance has been low in link ups. It’s the same on IG x

I hope you continue with the link-up because Instagram is a cesspool that I steer clear of! A linen skirt in a natural neutral color like this is such a classic, classy piece.

You look lovely in this neutral, monochrome look for summer, Jess! An A-line skirt is my favorite style, I love it’s fullness and swing. I enjoy your blog and link up, hope you decide to continue. Enjoy your week!

Absolute casual elegance Jess, looks fabulous! I’m not one for skirts but my choice is wide linen trousers, gives me the same feeling!

Kellyann and I have had low attendance the last few months too. I rarely go on Instagram unless I have to so I prefer reading blogs. This is such a gorgeous neutral look!

    Jess,

You look fantastic in this gorgeous monochromatic outfit!
Summer is always a slow season. But, I plan to put more time and effort into my blog vs the other social outlets.

I think low attendance might be partly related to summer and people going on their last vacations and such. I still enjoy the link ups because I visit blogs that I would probably not otherwise. Love this tan outfit. Nice and cool for summer. I’ve been loving linen too and added a couple pieces this summer.

You are so right about balance. I do love an A-line skirt! The last time I owned one I didn’t really style it well and it looked frumpy. I adore this look on you and that top is really gorgeous!

I had a very low attendance too. But I will keep going on with my Fancy Friday linkup party because I just like it. There are more and more bloggers that stop blogging. Such a pity. I love a line skirts. And yours! Beautiful neutrals.
