Trending Now: Birkenstock Style Sandals

IMG_7419

Hello ladies

Would I ever have thought I would be doing a post on Birkenstocks or Birkinstock-like sandals? Probably not. Even in my college days, I never wore them. I was always turned off by the people that wore them with socks! More guys then girls, but don’t we know this is a fashion faux paux, socks with open toed sandals?

To each their own , I say!

However…

This recent trend has me interested.  When I saw a pair on Trina of  Tea Time With Trina, HERE,  in blue floral, well of course I liked them. Floral and I go together like peanut butter and jelly. Laurel and Hardy, Batman and Robin.. Ok. You get the point. The large selection that is now on many retailers sites and stores has made me rethink my aversion to these sandals. I actually do like them!  Yes, they are causal and you really shouldn’t wear them out to an evening at the Symphony, but so fun and comfortable with a pair of jeans, shorts, or perhaps boho floaty dress. There are so many styles, one can really find what they look for, and the comfort factor, I am told, can’t be beat!

I know when I tried on Birks before, it felt like I was slipping into some high-grade cardboard, but I was told that they take a bit of time to “break in”. So, I am thinking I might have to give it another go! Women and men swear by the comfortable broken in wider footbed, like they are walking around barefoot.

When I first saw them, years ago, I think I thought to myself, I would rather walk around barefoot, then wear them! However, they have grown on me, although I just remember my art college, where some wore them, with the stereotypical musician look, I think they really DID GROW on them, an actual extension of their appendages!

They are fun, and causal, and I really think they look great with a laid back feel of a boho look or flowty summer dress.

Now, that is appealing to me!

Which of these sandals would you choose, and are you one to wear Birkinstock-like sandals?

Have a great day!

I am loving the many adorable, stylish, updated Birkenstock-like sandals of 2015. I love the ones above. I might try a look-alike pair from like Old Navy. And you always look great in florals. Your floral piece today is so pretty. =)

Yay! So glad you joined in and decided to purchase and wear some birkenstock style sandals. And see, you just made them look elegant, you stylish gal. Very smart choice with the cognac ones, they will go with everything! How about those leopard ones . . . dang, I just don’t think I can justify another pair. Thanks for the shout out today.

Love the sandals! Last summer I tried the faux Birkenstocks and much to my surprise I loved them. Last month I bought my first official Birks and I really do love them. It’s true…the more you wear them, the more comfy they get. I know they’ll be the sandal I wear pretty much daily for running around so they will definitely be worth the investment (try convincing my husband of that though…lol!).

I embraced Birkenstocks last season after calling them the ugliest shoe ever in my 20’s. When I broke my toe last Summer they were a life saver. I now own 3 pairs. I love these cognac ones.

These look great on you but for me they just make me look short and fat. LOL I don’t need any help in those areas.

    Looking lovely!

Suzanne, you are so far from ever looking fat that you could definitely pull off wearing birks. I seriously live in mine (well I now have four pairs so its easy to do that).

I was laughing when you said you’d rather go barefoot than wear birks….exactly how I’ve felt. But, just like you, I may be ready to try them…at least the pair you’re wearing. They are my favorite of the group! jodie
