30 Jul Turning Heads Linkup – A Favorite Summer Maxi Dress

Hello friends!

I just had my niece over for 3 days and she just loves to be a part of photoshoots.  So, I am here today back in the swing of things after our amazing beach vacation to the Outer Banks. If you missed the posts, read Part 1 HERE, and Part 2 HERE.

Today, just as yesterday, I have my niece joining in the blogging fun, as she loves fashion too!  She is a fun, spirited girl who enjoys fashion and having fun.  She’s got the thickest head of beachy blonde hair, and is fond of dresses too, like her Aunt Jess. Behind us in the above picture are kayaks we think we can rent, on the lake. I have really wanted to try it on still water, so we’ll see if that is something I can do.

We went to a favorite area of ours Latta Plantation for the photoshoot. It is on Lake Norman, and full of woods and trails, along with history. If you missed us doing a photo shoot yesterday, at Turtle Bay, have a read, here – Wearing a Romper at 51 and My Fashionable Niece.

My Maxi dress

When I am not thrifting from Poshmark, and buying items, this Spring, Summer I have been buying from Mango. Oh, Mango, how do I love thee, let me count the ways. If I could be patient enough, they have great sales at the end of June and in July. I have bought some on sale, but also felt the prices were reasonable on their own.

You may have seen this dress on the blogosphere. First, I had been looking at it, then I would think about  it, then go back to staring at it another day. This is a sign. At least for me. If I keep looking at something or going back to an item of clothing or shoes, chances are I am thinking about it and want it.

I then, saw it on Nina, and it looked wonderful, so I snagged it right away before it sold out in my size. Happy I did, the length, the blue and white pattern, and the ties at the shoulder make it a favorite choice. We actually have vintage plates on display in our kitchen with this type of classic pattern/color.

Easy dressing with fewer accessories today, wearing my bold, large periwinkle blue flower earrings. I saw these on a few bloggers and what I love is that they are as light as a feather, certainly no heavy earrings for me! I wore them the other day with an embroidered all-white tee, jean shorts and sneakers, they were the pop of color to my look.

My niece is wearing a swing dress from Loft and some leather sandals.

We spent the day at the “beach” a local hangout at Ramsey Creek Park, where you can sit on the sand and wade/swim in Lake Norman. It is more for kids, as I went in the water and it was pretty shallow. I sat on my knees and the water was still quite low. Not bad for cooling off though.

Later, we bought the Meal Deal from Fresh Market, and boy does $20 go a long way! We made dinner out on our deck, consisting of shrimp, cheese, Mexican corn mix, tortillas, and guacamole. We also bought premade Margaritas that were soooo good!

Of course, I couldn’t let the doggies not be in on the fun! I bought a Puparita, a cookie Margarita for doggies.

Lovin these new statement earrings from Amazon. I bought another pair in pink!
