Turning Heads Linkup – Black Sweater Dress with Soft Surroundings Burgundy Snakeskin Booties

Little black dress

Every lady should own an LBD.  This little black sweater dress caught my eye on Mango Outlet, as I saw it as a great layering piece for the colder months ahead.

Soft Surroundings snake skin booties

Outfit

Love the colors richness of these leather snakeskin booties in burgundy and the heel that isn’t too high. These booties by Soft Surroundings are from the Brand Matisse, who make modern styles for every lady. Is there such a thing as too many booties? I think not!

I have had this rich velvet , saturated burgundy jacket for a number of years, buying it secondhand on Poshmark. I have also worn the black sweater dress as is with a beautiful Chanel-inspired burgundy pearl beaded necklace, dotted with flowers in both the earrings and necklace. I was gifted this set last year from Earth and Moon Design.

The dress is wonderful for layering as it gets colder, but as a fitted sweater dress, is that one black dress you’ll reach for in the colder months. I am wearing my usual size 4 in this style. Its a steal for $20 on Mango outlet. I would have snagged the light taupe color as well, but it was sold out.

My tapestry bag from Zara adds to the vintage inspired style.

Hard to believe Thanksgiving is not far away. I will be bringing you some Thanksgiving outfit ideas next week on the blog.

What’s Goin On at Home

Well, I mentioned in yesterday’s post, that I am titrating off one of my pain medications. I seem to be a “glutton for punishment” after laying in bed for 2 weeks to recover from gallbladder surgery, I am now withdrawing from a pain med I have been on for 7 years. I’ve been binge watching tv, blogging and reading. So, there is that. I marvel at how I was able to rest in bed to recover from Prolotherapy 8 years ago. ( 6 weeks of it!)  Anyhow, I won’t bore you with details, rather to say it is tough!

I have been madly doing some Christmas shopping and keeping the gifts upstairs in my room. Things are looking a bit chaotic as we try to clean for the contractor who may get to our floors before Christmas.

I have been watching stories – “Rebecca” a movie on Netflix, that at first, sweeps you away with it’s romanticism. A young girl, a bit backward and slightly awkward, lands a job as a lady’s companion, only to find herself invited to a lunch table by a dashing, handsome man. ( Armie Hammer- quite handsome!) I won’t say more, but watch! It’s entertaining. I also began, “The Queen’s Gambit” which has quite good reviews!

Holy frijoles, my friend!! There is so much to love in this outfit. Love the rich color of that beautiful blazer. The impeccable fit of that bargain sweater dress. Those booties!! That bag!! And if all that wasn’t enough…those tights!!! Absolute perfection.

Hope you are feeling better. Surely these photos were taken before your surgery? I cannot imagine looking this good (for me..EVER!!) while weaning myself off pain meds and recuperating from gall bladder surgery. I just had parathyroid surgery. Seems many of us are going under the proverbial knife right now. Guess we can’t do much of anything else, huh?

You are so sweet! It was a fun sort of vintage inspired look and the dress is a winner!
I appreciate it. They were taken weeks after surgery. The gallbladder surgery was a sucess, now its withdrawal. This has been a very tough year. My hubby had parathyroid surgery and feels so much better! I wish you a speedy recovery and hope things are well.

Wow, Jess. The LBD is beautiful by itself, and with the velvet jacket and those booties, it is absolutely gorgeous!! Those booties are to die for, my friend! You’ve styled it perfectly with the bag and stockings. Good luck on titrating your pain meds. A worthy endeavor, but I know it’s not easy.

It’s good to hear that your recovery is progressing even if slowly. The color combo of black and burgundy is marvelously rich with a subtlety festive edge. LBDs haven’t been in the spotlight lately but they are always a great choice in putting together a fabulous look.
