Turning Heads Linkup – Camo Transitional Look for Fall

Military jacket and camo skirt

I know. It’s still hot . But we are shown Fall fashion early in the season aren’t we?

So today I am sharing a look with a staple of mine, the camo pencil skirt and sharing ways to style it.

My Outfit

Camo. Who’d have either thought it would come into the fashion world as it has? I know I used to only see it on hunterss and military.

It’s kind of ironic in a way. We as midlife women want to be seen, am I right?! Then camo comes along.

Truly, though, camo is a beautiful pattern with greens that act as neutrals and can combine and stand out depending on how you style it. Bold colors, muted tones, it is your choice.

This NYDJ skirt has stretch and is a classic pencil skirt style. I did size down one to a size 2 for reference, and it fits great. NYDJ recommends sizing down one for the perfect fit, but it all depends on your body shape and how you like things to fit. I know other brands recommend this, and it is personal preference.

Another neutral piece, this skirt can act a a replacement or a change from your denim skirt in your closet. The camo can be worn with any color or kept as a neutral.

I like the length on this skirt as well, above the knee on me and I am 5 foot 9. A little fashion peeve I have is that manufacturers can make things short in length in smaller sizes ( believe me I find this with coats, sweaters etc) when there are smaller tall people out there that need the length! Can I get an “Amen”? !

The woven textured clutch and pattern in the scarf break up the neutral look and add interest. Adding texture is one of my favorite things to do, and it is especially easy to do in the Fall.

Am I blending in with all the greenery around me and my camo? 🙂

I love an all neutral look, but if you are one to want to see some color in this outfit, break out your bags or earrings! I have a red croc bag by Teddy Blake I would pair with this look as well.

Green pinstriped blazer and camo pants

Another slightly casual look with camo and bright color. I love the bright green! So, the world is your oyster when pairing color with camo.

Here I styled camo with a neutral palette of tans and shades of brown with my croc textured sandals and silk scarf.

Another neutral example with camo. Black is an easy and fashionable pairing as well. Image credit** Fashion Jackson

Are you more inclined to pair camo with color or keep it neutral? Or do you shy away from this pattern?

Camo is a great idea for transitioning – the colors make me think a bit of fall. You hardly ever used to see camo in the UK but it’s slowly taking off. I love it x

Loving this fall-forward look, especially that classic military blazer! I am generally not a big fan of camouflage for myself, but it looks great on you!

That camo skirt is super cute on you! I generally think of camo as a more casual print, but you really elevated it with your other pieces and that pretty scarf you tied at your neck!

Great outfit, Jess! I personally tend to avoid traditional camo. As a jewel tone lover, these camo greens are just too muted for me. That said, I always enjoy seeing how others style camo, and this is one of the best outfits I’ve seen.

Thank you Michelle! I love jewel tones as well, you could certainly pair a great teal blouse or jacket with camo, but it is an individual taste. I appreciate your comment!
