31 Jul Turning Heads Linkup- Charlotte Seen- A Media Event to Charlotte Fashion Week at The VUE

Good Morning friends!

I recently went to a fun, fashion and media event in Charlotte, hosted by Charlotte Seen. This event was a precursor to Charlotte’s Fashion Week in the Fall. As a media event, I went to enjoy a summer fashion show, write about it, as well as meet some of the ladies from the “Faces of Silver”campaign, and book by  world known photographer Ben Winkler. 

Here I am ready for a fun day out at The Vue. The inside scoop was to “wear white”. 

Before I talk about the day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!  74 today, love you very much! My my is the Rock in our family and has always appreciated and loved how close our family is and how much we stick together. I miss my Dad, and I look at how strong my mom is and look up to her.

Yes, you KNOW me for COLOR. but hey, it’s hot here in the South and I am going to wear a couple of my white dresses. This one was a Poshmark steal a few years ago.

Despite LOVING white dresses, I have very few. I have off white, another shirt dress in white  and I have a white strappy tank style lace number i plan on wearing from Zara on the blog. I bought it last year, it is a small, yet too big on me, so my alterations lady will need to come to the rescue! Its too pretty of a dress not to wear. So, there has been a fair amount of white or neutral outfits lately on the blog, so next week I’ll be changing it up. Stay tuned…

Charlotte VUE and Faces of Silver

Hubby and I went dressed in white, as was mentioned by the coordinator of the event at The Vue in Charlotte. The Vue, a highrise which houses one of our favorite wine bars, Corkscrew, would be the venue for the event.  We made our way up to the rooftop, where hip hop and pop music played and models got ready for their “pool” runway show.

I spoke with Carol, a lovely lady I had met through the Fierce 50 Group, a group of very supportive and amazing ladies over 50 on Facebook. She also lived in Charlotte and was at The Vue promoting Ben Winkler, world renowned photographer’s Face of Silver. Faces of Silver is a project by the photographer, featuring midlife ladies with silver/white/grey hair dispelling any perceptions of grey haired women. I know growing up to have grey hair, the image or perception of women were “old ladies or grandmas’. With exposure and projects like “The Faces of Silver”, women are shown as vibrant, beautiful ladies – sensual and all that women are. Hair color shouldn’t change that.

I did stick out like a sore thumb a bit with my ginger red hair, but admired these women for being true to themselves. I am, at this point in time, happy with my red, covering the white, silver strands that seem to flourish throughout the top and sides of my head. I may, at a time, go this route myself, just not yet.

Ben Winkler and I follow each other on Instagram, and I am fond of his work. I love the mood portrayed in the women’s photos.I just love the cityscape or view from “The Vue’

A fun time was had by all.  I wouldn’t have mind hanging out and jumping in that roof top pool! Charlotte Fall Fashion Week is September 25-28. I hope to go unless we are out of town. 😉
