10 Jan Turning Heads Linkup-First Snow Day: Dressing for The Weather-
Hello friends!
Hope you had a great weekend! I met with my sister in Charlotte, and we enjoyed lunch at “Corkbuzz” a modern restaurant with an extensive wine list. Why do my eyes always go to the most expensive glass or bottle? Mmm. Well, I enjoyed a glass of a French Red and carefully sipped as to enjoy it. The lunch was delicious and something I would try and make at home, with a piece of thick pita bread, a yogurt lemon sauce and grilled vegetables: beets, brussel sprouts, squash, mushrooms, my kind of meal! This is something I could actually make! ( hubby is more the cook in the family). Anyhow, I am back to shopping my closet, as I will be doing throughout the next several months.
Then we were told by the forecast there may be 4-8 inches of snow by Sunday! I remember the first flake here like it was yesterday! I was teaching kindergarten and got such a kick out of the kids running to the window, wondering what they were seeing. Well, I just have 2 pups here now, and it was very amusing. Truffles, who is afraid of many things, didn’t quite know what to do with the white powdery stuff, and Gibson, the typical boy pup, was galloping around and thought it was time to make a break for the neighbor’s house where he could eat a few bites of the frozen cat food. He’s a bit mischevious!
Anyhow, snowy antics aside, I decided to put wear a more “wintery” outfit today. This outfit is a mix of several of my favorite textures. This pale pink lace button down I bought a few years ago in Ann Taylor is a staple in my wardrobe. I layered it with a cashmere burgundy floral cardigan, mixing pink and burgundy. Rose gold was my metal of choice in my necklace and watch. I paired this with a pair of faux leather chocolate brown leggings and burgundy textured booties. I decided upon my camel wool coat from Chadwicks to add additional warmth and color. It has been a mild winter here in Charlotte, but today was pretty darn cold! It was time to take out those pants!
Do you have a formula for dressing in the winter? Tell me about it!
Keep warm and fashionable,
Jess xo

I had no idea that you got snow that far south. I’m sure it won’t last the 3-4 months we have it though.

Posted at 07:13h, 10 JanuaryI’m so jealous of your snow! My whole Facebook feed has been full of winter wonderland photos from friend and family in the States. I’m glad you and your dogs are enjoying it!
The outfit is so lovely; those colours go together with your red hair so beautifully. I’m not sure anyone else could wear this as well as you do! Like you I’m shopping my closet a lot right now! xx
Jess Jannenga
Posted at 20:46h, 10 JanuaryIt is funny, as when we get snow here in the South, you hear about the Blizzard of ’17 and typically it isnt very much! But we do get ice. I enjoy the look of snow and get where you are coming from, it is very pretty to see! The pups are so funny in the snow, as they sink into the little holes they create with their paws. So glad you enjoyed this outfit, yes I need to get creative with my closet now.xx

Posted at 06:36h, 10 JanuaryJess, I love everything about this outfit! That lace blouse layered under cashmere is simply perfection! You asked about formulas for dressing for cold weather? Ha! Where I live it is all about the layers and layers and more layers and the warmest boots you can find. And don’t wear nice boots because they just get ruined in the persistent snow! And heeled boots? Forget it! There is a layer of ice under the snow at all times! As much as I love cold weather, I am ready for the snow to be gone and it is only January. But we are looking at highs in 40’s this week so that is promising.

Hope you are having a great start to the week and 2017! Kinda wish we could let Cooper see snow – he’d probably vanish as he has such short legs, maybe you’d just see his tail over the snow, ha! But it would be fun to see his reaction!
