Turning Heads Linkup – Happy St. Patty’s Day in Lace Peplum

Green lace top

Happy St Patty’s Day friends

I’ve decided to share my love for my heritage ( 50% Irish) and dress in green today for St . Patty’s Day.

Lace green top

Wide leg cropped jeans

I hope everyone is doing fine in the wake of all this uncertainty and craziness. I hope you haven’t run out of toilet paper!

I am staying calm and think the news certainly added to the public fear. Just taking it day by day and making sure to take precautions.

I think the blog should be a good place to escape .

My hubby and 2 puppies make it a bit easier to keep my sanity, as I have their company . My pups are such a comfort.

My Dad- The Irishman

My Dad loved to play The Clancy Brothers on record when we grew up. I still remember some of the lyrics.

“Johnny Mackeldo and Magee, and Magoo, and a couple of two or three, were on a spree one  day.. ” We used to take a long car ride to Disneyworld ( and I mean LONG….) and it was The Clancy Brothers, Air Supply and Bob Seger. Back then you had your earphones and cd disc changer, and boy did I , unless I wanted to listen to the tape my dad made of those 3 bands!

Good memories though.

I miss my Dad, and it has been 4 years. Of course, I think of him often, but especially on St Patty’s Day. He used to joke, “What is a 7-course Irish meal?” – A six-pack and a potato!  Yes, dad humor!

I used to joke with my dad and say he was a faux Irishman because he would drink a can of Coors Light and turn red! No Guinness for this guy.

I miss his boisterous laugh and so many things, but these memories keep me smiling thinking of him.

My dad wanted to go to Ireland and never made it. It is a place I want to visit. some year down the road. I always daydreamed about us going into an Irish Pub and me pretending to be an Irish Local. At least, until I opened my mouth! lol!

My Outfit

Yesterday I dressed in Green in this POST. A dressier outfit. I wanted to create a more casual look today for St Patty’s day and I have styled this Zara lace top I bought on Poshmark a few years ago. Typically with the wide leg cropped jeans I would wear a more fitted top, but this worked quite well, as it is fitted at the top, then as peplum style, flares out at the waist.

These Wit and Wisdom wide-leg jeans have gotten a lot of wear, and I bought them thrifting for a mere $20. They are so comfortable and I love the style. They do show off your shoes as well. I need to get on my pedicure this week if I am going to be wearing sandals. These 2.34-inch sandals were gifted to me by Marmi last year.

They are a look-alike to these Valentino Rockstar Slide Sandals at a more reasonable price.

I wanted to bring out my floral resin earrings from Baublebar- as since there aren’t many flowers yet blooming, may they be blooming on my ears!

Jess, I love the lacy top with those crop jeans! Such a nice “attraction of opposites!” The bag, the shoes, all perfect. But most of all, I love your dad’s humor. I shared the 7-course meal with my husband and we both had a great laugh!! He sounds like a lovely man–I mean Irishman!! I know we’re all challenged with these crazy times and finding the right balance to write about. Staying calm is the right message, and I shared a cool “Calm” exercise in my post today. But I also styled my cute shamrock tee! Lol!

I like the simplicity of a lace top and jeans, it’s the perfect “high-low” look. Every time you wear these cropped pants, I seriously covet them! Such a sweet story about your dad. The studded sandals–I liked those shoes from the time they did a pump version. If only I could stand higher heels, I’d get a knockoff. Happy St. Paddy’s day!

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day Jess!
I hope you do make it to Ireland and bring your father along with you.
Bring a little trinket from your father’s collection or something he liked and leave it somewhere hidden.
Then he will see that you were thinking of him.

    Hugs,
    Robin

This is so pretty. Love the lacy top and that’s a beautiful shade of green on you. Also, love your outlook for these turbulent times. Freaking out is not going to make things better and in fact causes more problems. Thank you for encouraging and staying positive.

What a lovely surprise on this rather dark but Sunny morning. Thank you. What a funny joke! I have the same with the UK. In fact last year I went alone in a pub,Gerben had to park the car, and I made a joke to the barman. He had to laugh and I felt as a real local!! That felt fantastic! So I know what you mean.
