Turning Heads Linkup- A Menswear-Inspired Structured Look

Happy Turning heads Tuesday ladies!

We had a fun weekend at “Woofstock”, a music, food truck and brewery event in NoDa, an arts district near where I live. I couldn’t pass up a doggy event! There were several Dog Rescues there, waiting for adoption, as well as the entrance fee going to support the charity. You all know how much i love dogs, as it was a good time!  As for Fashion, today, I decided to take out my plaid vest, ( plaid is hot this season!)  and style a look around it.

As i look at the shopping sites and read about the Fall trends, plaid is showing in stores as well as a structured look with plaid suiting, jackets, trousers and tops. I love these trousers, they are on my Fall wishlist, and i also love this dress.

I am a fan of vests and i score this one from the Limited, on Poshmark, I think for $10. My LOFT skirt has stood the test of time, and is a pretty old piece. I decided i wanted to give the look a “vintage vibe” and styled this fillagree pearl brooch my mother in law gave me as a defining piece on this white blouse. I like to think of creative ways to wear brooches, and i think a post will be in the making on other ways to do so!

The look is a fun mix of menswear inspired with some feminine details of the pearl brooch, and the ruffles of the white blouse. The suede cognac block heels I purchased last year and now have the chance to wear them. Later in the season, i would wear this with some patterned tights and boots. i also have a pair of brown tweed kitten heels that would work with this look. I finally brought out my Louis Vuitton Speedy, which was getting lonely in my closet!

Noting that plaid is a trend for Fall, I wanted to tell you about an experience I had lately. Margaret Manning, of Sixty and Me did a video interview  ( 4 segments) with me talking about trends, my style, wearing accessories etc. If you get a chance, CLICK HERE FOR THE INTERVIEW.  It was my first video, but i enjoyed it. It was a great opportunity, a learning experience and I may consider doing more. Doing video was one of my “fears’ I talked about in a post and I felt like it was a step forward in overcoming that challenge.

I wrote about Defining Your Signature style, and details for me, can really help make a look. I do love a feminine, classic look, but also love adding trends to my wardrobe.

Hmmm, Maybe i should borrow his bow tie? 😉

Outfit details: Vest- The Limited ( Poshmark) similar, Skirt ( quite old, LOFT), Shoes-HM sim, brooch( mother in law), shirt ( White House Black Market via Poshmark, sim. Louis Vuitton bag. brown metal watch c/o Obaku

I could see this outfit with a pair of brocade booties too.. ive been looking!

I love this look. I do have a lot of menswear items, especially my Fedoras. Thank you for linking up and I am digging out some of my old plaid for this fall. We are going to a doggy event for Halloween. You’ve given me an idea that maybe I can do a blog about it-we’ll see.
